I just use INPA since Its already hooked up from flashing the tranny. MHD should work the same though.

I'm back to 5835 and the latest flash from Wedge.
The car is buttery smooth all around. Sport mode is much smoother thanks to Wedge and the D mode on the Alpina 5835 seems more responsive and smoother. I can barely tell when it shifts 1 2 3 4 buy 40 MPH LOL I'm actually fairly content but now and then I still downshift manually when I know I need some acceleration and don't want to load up with boost. I have paddles so it's not the end of the world as it just takes a quick blip. When I flashed to US Sport I had a bunch of codes, mainly tranny codes, I've never seen so many codes at once. I had to clear them a few times with ignition on and engine off with MHD. You could use INPA too. I still had the 4x4 light and a couple others, so I had to drive around a few miles, shut the car off and turn it back on and they eventually went away. When I went back to Alpina 5835 I had no codes. |

Honestly, the Alpina flash is not worth going through all that effort. It is a mixed bag of changes, the M Mode is pretty good and the S mode decent, but at the expense of the responsive D mode that you already have. D mode shifts up as fast as it can and is not responsive to downshift short of the kickdown switch. It makes driving in D mode horrible around town. Sadly, that is what I do most of the time.
It is not a win-win situation and you can see that if you read all of the posts above. |

I have a working hypothesis that I would like for you guys to comment on:
I believe that the TCU is looking at the pedal position sensor as part of the equation as to when to shift when in D, instead of the throttle position sensor. I switched to "linear throttle" mode (is this a Cobb only option?) and the transmission seems a lot less sluggish in D mode. This is obviously another mixed bag, since you have to push the pedal a lot farther to achieve the same response, but the transmission seems a lot more responsive. I need to test in S mode and see if it makes a difference there too. Anyone else ever try this? |

When it changes is relative to how much throttle is being given, but it is at least 500rpm higher than with stock throttle. I tested S mode and it seems to shift at a higher RPM as well.
I miss the responsiveness of the stock throttle, but have to admit that it is pretty abrupt when you are FBO. If you already driving aggressively a small stab of the throttle can break the tires loose very easily. Linear throttle makes it a lot easier to modulate the throttle when cornering, although it feels as if I have lost 100hp. I like the way the transmission responded to the change, it makes the Alpina flash a lot more tolerable in D mode. Last edited by Velocity26; 04-01-2016 at 10:15 AM.. |

Alpina B3 with JB4- errors/issues.
Please forgive if I missed another thread with this. I run a 2007 e93 335N54(post 03) with a JB4, 93 OCT, upgrade intercooler, oil cooler, intake etc so power is pushing pretty high (can't do DPs or sport cats easily here)
Any known issues with JB4 and the TCU flash software to throw errors? Quote:
