You got to be freaking joking, the 335 is not a Honda. The 335 is a BMW too you know and the last time i check my 335 is well balance and can freaking corner too. True it's suspension is not fine tune like a M3 but with a 3k upgrade in sport suspensions the 335 will match the M3 handling.
throw in a LSD, Coil-overs, and Sways and that 335i becomes a track star. I cant wait to do those mods to my car and start tracking it. Once I do I will be looking forward to racing a m3 on the track.

+1. I would have to agree; a stock 335i (with stock 18" sport wheels/Bridgestone RFTs) gets 0.87g-0.89g on the skidpad vs. a stock E92/E90 M3's 0.94g on the skidpad. A set of coilovers, sways, and better wheels/tires would equal or better that 0.94g on the skidpad. Personally, I don't track my PROcede v2 335i, so the 0.89g is decent enough for me.

SflGator, I think given the chance to buy a E92 M3 at 50k like the 335....YOU would still choose the 335.....You should be in the dictionary as FANBOY....I love my 335 too but really an M is an M and within a couple years I will most likely own one

Now you sound like a fanboy. You can say all you want in theory. If the 335i was 50K and the M3 would be what 75K? would you still choose the M? It is what it is bro. The 335i IS not 50K. (unless you get every option and its a e93 vert)

There use to be a clear choice for those people wanting performance from their BMW. The M car would destroy the typical 328 or 330i since there was no aftermarket performance parts to increase power as cheaply and effectively as the 335i. Also as brought up previously 335i and the M3 is the same chassis.

thank you very fucking much!!!! i calculated the mods i would do and they came up to 9k without LSD. i thought put all that 9k into a M3 and dont mod... M3 is probably slower, but then there's always a car that's faster than yours

Chitown...my 335i was 50k on the dot out the door....And I was missing options like Active Steering and Comfort Access.....and it is an E92 not E93....

Since you don't know me, you really should make assumptions about me. I was only echoing what others have said. I like the E92 M3, and will go test drive an E-DCT E92 M3 before getting into my next car 12 months from now, but if it doesn't "WOW" me (for the extra $15k), then I will be getting another 335i (and transfer my PROcede v2, wheels/tires, etc. to my new 335i).

Once you drive a car with ~ 410BHP / ~ 440 lb.-ft. TQ (~ 350WHP / ~ 370 lb.-ft. RWTQ) that has plenty of power available from 1,500rpm (and you don't always have to wind it up past 6,000rpm to get that power), then it may be difficult to deviate from that at this point. Call me whatever you like, but this is my rationale, and I think many ppl here are thinking the same thing.

Do you see my sig? See my numbers at the track? Although I will certainly concede my car doesn't handle (with its stock suspension) as well as the E92 M3, but power and speed wise, they're about the same or very darn close as an E92 M3 for ~ $15,000 less. And, my car is nowhere near the fastest tuned 335i (as I only have the PROcede v2 and a BMC air filter). Nobody can deny the numbers that (slightly or heavily) tuned 335i's are putting up these days, not even the M3 guys.

My point exactly, without taxes, title, and plates your car should be in the mid to upper 40's. No matter what your going to have to pay for taxes, title and plates. However I have seen just a mid optioned 335i vert sell for about 50K without the T,T,P.

FYI -- my feelings are not "hurt." I have a bit thicker skin than that, and I'm no "kid" by any means....I was like 20 years ago though.

My 335i (options in sig) had an MSRP of $53k, but I paid $49,500 + ~ $5.5k for mods (PROcede v2, wheels/tires, BMC Air filter, etc.); again $55k is $15k less than a similarly optioned E92 M3 at $70k.

At Kyalami, the South African F1 track, a magazine ran both the e92 M3 and e90 335i. The M3 was faster by only 1 second on better rubber.

Conclusion, slightly-modded 335i is faster in the twisties.

In another test, the M3's brakes failed after 2 hot laps. In most other track tests, the M3 brakes are cause for major concern by the tester.

That track is also at 6,000ft elevation, so the M3 would be making about 75% of its horsepower potential that it would at sea level. That is not really a good comparison. The 335 is not affected nearly as much, if at all, at that elevation.

My dealer actually pushed the flash on me so good luck telling me it is the Dinan flash....this is the great thing, they cannot be hypocritcal.

Serious note...... Every damn M engine has had teething problems in recent memory, the S54, S62 and S85.

Both the S62 and S85 have had VANOs issues. I would expect some teething issues with the new M3 engine. Good thing is that BMW is so scared of a major fault, they will gladly swap out engines in the beginning.

I'm not sure you would even need a full compliment of suspension mods to bring a 335 "close" to an M3 in the twisties....coils, springs, lsd. A set of front and rear sways go a long way toward better performance in the turns. Would it be enough?......maybe. But you're looking at a "mere" $700-$800 installed.
