LOL.

Obviously NewSong cannot grasp the concept. With his mindset, the whole ///M-brand wouldn't even exist. We'd all be driving overpriced pretty cars that have no compromise.

Yup, slow economy full size pretty sedans and Corvettes. What more do you need in life? Oh and a 328i coupe for those who like the looks.

Jokes aside, you are staring at the best performing production four door car in the world.

And god damn it only cost $60k.

Yeah but the M5 will still cost $20k more.

[QUOTE=NewSong;3487936]That argument is very weird to me. So with 4 people in a sedan, do you expect to be using 500hp at any time? Seems to defeat the purpose of safety, and comfort if you're going to race with 4 people inside the car.

If you're going to buy a car for performance, buy a car that is 100% focused into it. If you're buying for utility, that can be had for way under $60,000. Plenty of cars have decent power, room, and comfort in the $25,000-$35,000. These $60,000-$100,000 500hp "sports sedans" seem like a waste of money to me, and are pretty ugly. Each their own, but I don't see the point of this car, the Porsche panamera, Maserati Quattroporte, most of them hideous and if you're just going to carry 4 people in a car, why would you need a 500hp engine that can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds?

I think its like killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Not everybody can afford a daily driver and a weekend car. Alot of people need the rear seats and trunk space that a zo6 does not have. Most people just want a daily driver that has the room that go fast too. So instead of purchasing 2 cars they can have it all in 1.

If everybody thought like you then the M5 is more waste of money, because the M5 is just as ugly.

- complete no-brainer

The CTS-V looks much much better in person. Only thing I'd change is the wheels, which are pretty boring. And to those who continue to be naysayers on this car's abilities, please read C/D's test of the CTS-V. Car and Driver is not a magazine that is afraid to call a shitty car exactly that.

Caddys are no longer "shit on wheels" or "old people's cars". The CTS is very impressive - don't knock it til you've driven one. I have. If I was shopping on a 328 budget, I'd give it a very serious look. Interior styling and finish are on a par with anything the Germans are doing in that price range (except maybe "our cars are nose-heavy pigs but the interiors are nice" Audi).

One thing's for sure, the CTS and CTS-V make the Benz C Class and C63 completely obsolete.

Yeah, those 328i's and their faulty fuel pumps... I'd never keep one out of warranty.

yeah, i gotta say, don't think i'm ever gonna buy another bmw ever 'cause it took a whole day to get mine replaced. god, i just don't think it's worth the added horsepower, torque and tunability. no, that just doesn't make logical sense.

oh wait...

and you always seem to dodge subjects when completely valid points are made in argument to your statements. hmm, i wonder why?

Wait, so you would actually keep your car out of warranty? Serious question.

I'll easily take the enjoyment of daily driving 300lbs of torque at 1.4k rpm then 200lbs at 2.8k rpm and sacrifice some time with a loaner 328i.

Yeah, because having your car in the shop is just so cool.

Personally, I agree with you, IMO the CTS is hideous. It's my opinion and I'm not going to try to force it on anyone else, but I think it looks like a paper airplane of some sort. Technically, it's a fantastic car for a great price, and also one that I wouldn't be caught dead in.

I'm not sure what point your trying to make about the 328i vs the 335i, but it is making you sound ridiculous.

EDIT: Before I get flamed for not stating a reason as to why I don't like the CTS... I don't like it for aesthetic reasons. It's too angular for my taste. It's not curvy enough IMO. I also don't like the BBQ grill.

That's exactly what I've been trying to say. If a car has 900HP and 900 lbs torque, and this and that but looks ugly, I wouldn't buy it for $5,000. The CTS-V is pretty hideous.

My point about the 328i vs 335i was kind of tongue in cheek, but kind of serious. I could've easily bought a 335i E92, but I went with the 328i E92 after hearing about the faulty HPFP on the 335i. I keep my cars for around 5-7 years and I didn't want to deal with the HPFP issue out of warranty, just not worth my time and more importantly safety. Sure I could've gambled and said "Hey it might not happen to me", but I don't gamble on my safety. Plus I pocketed $10,000. Hope that doesn't sound more ridiculous.

see, i've had my car for a little more than a year now...about 380 days or so. ONE day is all it took for me to get my HPFP replaced.

i dunno bout you, but that seems completely reasonable considering it's probably making about an extra 100hp and lb-ft over a 328i.

i've yet to hear of a single person's safety being risked by hpfp failure. all it does is decrease your power output, it doesn't just make the car shit a brick.

Umm, Z06 Corvettes make over 200+ HP and torque over a 335i and don't have any fuel pump issues.

Good luck with the car out of warranty.
