lol..

I've run 235/40 on a 10.5 wheel while racing/drifting numerous times in my driftcar at high speeds at buttonwillow and thunderhill. If you look at all the top time attack cars around the world, they are somewhat stretched to some degree. I would have to say, racing/drifting is the real test versus someone saying it doesnt work without even trying it.

its not only style in my book. i use it on the track and its proven so doing it on the street is no problem at all.

It has everything to do with offset.

Wheel width and tire size causes stretch. Offset is independent of this. Lower offset allows for wider lip.
Try arguing that to an officer of the law.

I don't understand your second question.
There is a reason tire manufacturers make recommendation for wheel width. Anything smaller or larger posses a safety risk that no manufacturer would recommend.

People have. They win. The law states nothing about the wheel extending past the fender, only the tire tread.

Of course they need to list recommended specs and won't warranty it, but if they bead is set and takes the same amount of pressure to pop it, then it's no different in that respect.

The law in mass is that any part of the tire including the sidewall cant stick out past the fender.. I dont know how the other states are, but if my memory serves me correctly, it originated in germany where that is the law (where the tread must be contained within the fender, not the entire tire)

In order:

Its impossible be 'ignorant with logic'. You either posses logic or you don't.

Your opinion is that it looks good and its safe. My opinion says it isn't either.

You will still get the ticket and have to go to court. Period. AND, you risk getting in front of a judge that isn't so lenient.

If the bead is set firmly against the lip of the rim, then it can withstand side impact. You stretched the sidewall to they point that is distorted way outside of spec. I'm not an engineer, but the people who designed the tires are. I'm going to trust their opinion.

I'm an engineer. Your logic is wrong. If you don't like it, go ahead and state your opinion, but there's no need to argue the physics of it. The success rate far outweighs the rate of failure in this application.

Do you have stats to back up your claim, or is it just opinion?

You're an engineer and you think this is how the tires and wheels are engineered to function???...you serious???
This is stupid and NOT safe. I don't think tires are "engineered" to be stretched and rode on it's sidewall but most of all......
It's Fu*kin' Ugly!!!!.......oh, in my opinion.

so the conclusion is, no one on e90 post likes hellaflush cars. minus 2 or 3 people. every hellaflush car is considered "vwvortex" cars and should be banned from the road.

It's an "auto fashion". Every one has there own style and likes. I don't go around bashing all the posers out there that put wheel copies on there BMW because they are all too cheap to buy OEM or Orginal Manufacturers products. They just like the look or follow a fashion trend.
