so bottom line is u can get an S4 with a V6 and a supercharger and pay about $60k for it with not much chance you can do more to that engine....or get a 335i for about $35k, which stock for stock is just slightly underpowered than the S4, as we saw in those 2 videos posted earlier.

But put a Jb3 in that 335i for $500 and LSD for $1k and watch that 335i demolish all that audi stands for, while still keeping the BMW price under $40k.

And I do like audi. I had the previous 3 A4 models, so i was an audi owner for about 10 years. Now i've converted to BMW and don't know why I didn't do it like 9.9 years ago.

I would still love an R8 or an RS6. If audi comes out with a nice looking turbo model, i'd be all over it

while that is far from slow, its not amazing for a full out race tune on race gas.

335's HAVE demolished those times and traps w the same mods.

both great cars.

I think it is safe to say that primetimes tune or adaptation is not correct or something else is wrong. If it is indicative than I don't think that Brandon would of pulled on urban legend. I think he must still have some of the 93octane gas left in his car or that the flash didn't go over properly. Will have to wait and see.

Enough said.

You are comparing a used vehicle to a new vehicle. In addition, show me any LSD installed for $1000. Keep in mind that most cars have welded ring gear. Or, are you comparing a worn used unit which is poorly installed and clunking at every turn or throttle application?

While I agreed with most of your points and am also sickened by many of the childish and ignorant comments made by the immature, this is not true. Yes, HPFP's failed and there was a wastgate ticking issues, etc. Blown turbos and engines have not really been an issue. In fact, I have been shocked at the durability of these components.

Now if only the fuel system wasn't made from egg shells...

FWIW, APR has diagnosed that owner's car and discovered that the mapping was not set up correctly. He was effectively running a stock tune with 100 octane, which yielded the ~12.8 @ 110mph numbers. The actual remapped tune, when correctly activated, will no doubt improve those time.

While I'm no authority on the subject.. care to link any blown engines and turbos related to a tune? I can't recall any.

I think this thread is an awesome demonstration that its not the cars that make people tools, they are that way to begin with. Wow. I really like the S4........and my 335....and the Sti....and the 5.0 Mustang......and the EVO....and the Challenger SRT8.......and anything AMG (except the ML and G).....and my 997tt. Really anything fun to drive. Oh and the Audi/VW community is, for the most part, great like this one. Lighten up kids.

Like someone said we are driving sport sedans not a Ferrari. Anyone who has a job can go out and lease a 335i or an S4.
Nice screen name !!

One of the only rational posts on this entire thread. If money were no object I'd have a C63, 335i, S5, M3, a Shelby GT500, a 1970 Hemi Cuda, and a few Ferrari's in the garage to go with my S4 and 911. They are all great cars and all a blast to drive. My last daily driver was a BMW and I'm sure at some point I'll have another. I'm a car guy and that's why I go on these forums.

The vast majority of owners will keep their cars stock. For those who don't who cares if one is a tenth of a second faster or slower. You can take a front wheel drive honda and tune it into a 10 second car. I'd still take a 335i or S4 over that any day. For "real" world driving these cars are both a blast and we should feel lucky to have either. Everyone on both sides should grow up.

umm...if you read the forum you will see that Mike has a group buy on wavetrack LSD now for like $975 a piece. i can get that and my friend here can install it for free, cause he's my friend, thus LSD <$1000 bought and installed. And NO, most are not welded. Mine is bolted as are most AT

And anyway, the point I was trying to make is that its WAY WAY WAYYYYYY cheaper fully modding the 335i, compared to a stock S4.

I can spend $5000 for LSD and still keep price of car less than $40K, which is SIGNIFICANTLY less than stock S4, and still have it faster and with better handling.

what .......G is the best SUV u can buy (after Lambo lm002). I would take G any time of the day vs my 335, if not for poor mpg

I had a grandmother that willed me $20,000 for my inheritance, cause she's my grandmother, yo. I put that money towards my car so, really, my 335i only cost $30K, which is like $25K less than that Audi.

If that sounds silly to you, re-read what you just wrote. You're using the same logic. Furthermore, like scalbert said, it is meaningless to compare prices of used and new cars and even more ridiculous to bring aftermarket modifications into the picture.
