I do agree, his attitude on this forum has caused me to not consider buying his company's product. It is akin to the AR people bashing Raceland DPs. Perhaps you should take some lessons from ETS on the way they handled the BigTom intercooler. This is not me bashing Shiv, I'm just pointing out the fact the way he handles himself will lose him potential business as it has with me.

Some people just buy on principle and not always on performance.

I personally won't buy on either of those points, I think quality and the better product as a whole is what would push me to buy something. And yes V4 is more expensive, but it is also a much better tune with more capabilities, so who cares what the owners argue about, get what you want.

I have to say since you brought up the DPs, neither AR or shiv have bashed either competing products. They both simply stated facts about which is better. As for the DPs, AR stated that the Raceland quality is poor b/c of ground down welds which is a TRUE statement. There is no bashing, its facts that people need to see and same go with the tuning wars, people need to see the facts.

There are several of them. We've done 4 or 5 local installs in the past 2 weeks. Not sure how many of them (if any) are forum regulars. Just keep in mind that a 335is with Procede is, tune wise, the exact same thing as a regular 335i with Procede. No difference in terms of boost, fuel or timing. The hotter BMW tune that the 335is has no benefit once a Procede is installed.

Not to butt in to a JB bashing session uninvited but while the G4 won't have CPS that does not mean it can't influence timing set points or advance. CAN has opened up a whole new world of possibility. And for those that absolutely love CPS as I've stated before the PRO board includes it. Not because it's needed for the N54 but because they plan to reuse that board on other applications that may benefit from it.

Yeah I figured as much but the extra cooling, exhaust and DCT can't hurt performance wise. As such how much boost and or what maps would an "is" run stock? Is the big limiting factor still the stock DPs and intercooler? I'm guessing the autotune feature of Procede would auto-magically adjust with the better cooling and or slightly better flowing exhaust?

The extra cooling doesn't have anything to do with air intake temp so it won't affect performance. Other than perhaps make the car less prone to oil overtemp in extreme conditions. The exhaust doesn't really flow much more than stock from what we've seen either. It's more of a sound mod. But the DCT is the real deal. And the mating of the DCT with the n54 is a match made in heaven. Peak dyno numbers won't change but with an extra gear and super short shift times, the car will definitely accelerate harder.

But for some reason, the last 2 335is that came to us for Procede installs had 6MTs

True true. I suppose I meant more of the no limp mode and or longevity benefits. So quite literally the total hp/tq should be identical as far as adding a tune to a stock car be it a 335i or a 335is. Good to know. And yeah the DCT is pretty awesome as is. I can only imagine what I would be like with a good bump in power.

now the quest begins for finding the right CPO/used one. All the ones out there right now are #1 overpriced, #2 no AMG performance pack. If the car has no performance pack, I am expecting to pay high 40's not mid 50's like these guys want.

Shiv - How does the Procede handle the 335is' overboost mode? Does the car just not enter overboost mode and the boost is controlled strictly by the Procede?

That's correct. Overboost is essentially disabled since the standard Map1 boost level runs more boost than the stock tune's brief overboost period.

The 335is then is agreeably not worth it. I compared both cars and there is basically no difference other than:
************************** 335is --- 335i
Base Price --------------------- $50,150 - $43,150
Turning Diameter - Curb to Curb 38.7 ---- 36.1
Suspension Type - Front & Rear Yes ----- No
Final Drive Axle Ratio ---------- 3.08 ---- 3.46
Fuel Economy Est-Combined -- 21MPG -- 22MPG


The is pretty much just comes with a standard sport suspension, available DCT 7 speed transmission, extra cooling and performance tires for an additional $7,000.

If potential buyers are in the market to buy a 3 series and tunning it afterwards, there is no reason to buy the is because the tunning is basically going to turn the n54 into the same power output in any i or is platform.

Vishnu, since the is gets 1mpg less than a standard 335i, when both tuned with the Procede, will they yield the same identical Fuel estimate?
