I think OC is designed for people with more stable mental health than us. People who order a car, get an ETA from the dealer and don't much worry about it. For them, checking the site every couple of weeks is probably a novelty, and they probably think "it's moving right along".

For us, nothing short of real time GPS on the car will do, and webcams in the factory.

People who are more stable than us (or even less so) walk into the local dealer, pick a car that's off the lot and drive off with it the same day. How exciting.

I just found out I am not on the Asian Chorus. Instead, I somehow made it onto the earlier boat, the Patriot. I checked my VIN on the shipping website and it's true - it's on the Patriot. I also called my dealer and he confirmed the same. I might get my car sooner than I thought.

There are several Asian families in my neighborhood. You can tell where they live because their lawns look the best!

We'll have to keep in touch as the ship draws near and the cars come down from Jersey.

KIA as 1,500,000th car discharged in Bremerhaven

Recently BLG set a new milestone at the Bremerhaven Auto Terminal: the handling of the 1.5 millionth vehicle this year. At a growth rate of over 13 percent a cargo handling volume of around 1.6 million vehicles is expected by the end of the year.

The anniversary car was a KIA, a Sorento model that was discharged from the car carrier ASIAN CHORUS belonging to the Korean company EUKOR Car Carriers. Manfred Kuhr, a member of the BLG Board of Management, as well as Bernd Kupke and Marcel P. Harms, from the management of BLG AUTOMOBILE, welcomed Haydan Leshel, managing director of KIA Motor Deutschland, Joo-Hun Chi, representative of EUKOR Europe, and Ralf Berszick from WWL German Branch as EUKOR agent on the arrival of the 1.5 millionth car in Bremerhaven this year.

Hyundai and KIA have been importing their vehicles via Bremerhaven every since their market entry in Germany. The BLG AUTOMOBILE Division is not only responsible for cargo handling and storage in this connection, but also for technical preparation of the vehicles for the customers with modifications and installation of extras. After that the vehicles are distributed to the respective dealers by means of the division’s own fleet of trucks.

Many Hyundai and KIA vehicles come from Korea to Bremerhaven on vessels belonging to EUKOR. The shipping companies Wilh. Wilhelmsen, Oslo, und Wallenius Lines, Stockholm, each have a 40 percent share in EUKOR, a Korean shipping line based in Seoul. The other 20 percent is owned by the Hyundai Motor Group, shareholder of the Hyundai Motor Company and KIA Motors Corporation.

So, if I understand this correctly, all of you on the Asian Chorus are being driven to the U.S. in a Hyundai?????

Nope, KIA I think.

Actually, BMW does a great job of delivering vehicles. You'll never see a truck load of them on the highway - because the travel only in closed trucks. The first time it is subjected to flying road debris is when we drive it home.

So, I am off this friday the 23rd. Do you think they have any picnic tables set up at the port so I can sit there all day and have snacks while waiting for my car to come off the ship?

Yes, in fact they have a carousel and you can buy cotton candy and

. They even have someone that does facepainting so you can get a little roundel put on your cheek.
