2009 e92 with BMS DCI and muffler delete. First few days were really loud and the deep exhaust note within the cabin was deafening. After 4-5 days of driving i guess the ECU adjusted and it got a lot more quiet. Cold starts are obviously really loud but i love it. Down shifting is really sweet and addicting, the exhaust gargles and pops

My local shop where i had it done said if i didnt like it i could go back and have them reweld the stock exhaust but no need for that now.

Just got mine deleted on e92. $85 re-using stock tips. A lot louder and drones more than I expected. My friend deleted his on his completely stock e92 and it is higher pitched and a bit more quiet compared to mine(?). Not sure if it is the ECU adjusting, or if my JB4 and DCI has anything to do with it. I'm okay with the sound, drones at highway speed which annoys me.

Also, muffler delete in person sounds a lot different than all the videos you will see on youtube. I suggest you find someone in town who has it done instead of going off of youtube video/audio clips.

Agreed, I give my car 5% throttle on decel and I can control the gargling. It's like a videogame.

On the e92 335i N54 (not sure if it's the same for e90 and/or N55) what did your shops say about the actuator on the drivers side tip piping? The shop I just went to refused to do the delete because of that. Also they quoted me $280 to do the job and install my quad tips before eventually telling me they wouldn't do it. HELP

Lmao. That's what I thought. I told him there were tons of guys all over the country running this set up. He swore it would trigger a check engine light... even after I told him I disabled the line 5 months ago and have not had 1 issue. Then he asked me if the guys on the forums were "just car owners or actual mechanics"! At that point I just asked for my keys and left.

Definitely sounds different on an e90 vs an e92 (resonators vs second cats).

I have a muffler delete with dimisa tips (4inch). Sounds great, not too loud at all. Sounds like a much more expensive set up. The 4inch tips look pretty aggressive too.

The shop that did mine did say someone with the same car actually had it done a week prior, and asked to have the stock mufflers put back on . Apparently the dude had catless dps and it was just too much.

Since I have stock downpipes, sounds sick.

Both have secondary cats. The difference is a resonator on the E90 and an x-pipe on the E92 just before the mufflers.

So I finally got it done, at Midas of all places. Lol. The mechanic who has always worked on my Japanese cars recommended a guy who worked over there when I was getting my fiancés waterpump replaced at his shop on Wednesday. So I went to see Chuck at 1, dropped my car off at 2 and he was done by 4. Total cost was $200 to do the muffler delete and weld on my quad tips.

Forgive the dirty pics but this is how she sits right now. I love the look of it from the back now, so much more aggresive. I had them install the tips to where they poke out a little past the diffuser like M3s and Vettes do and it looks great. The sound is also intoxicating. So much deeper and richer than the stock sound. Cold starts a little loud but nothing crazy like I thought it would be by the way guys in other threads complain about it. Once it drops down to 600rpm it's barely audible. It sounds great just putzing around town to. Very quiet and reserved under 50mph so long as you're shifting prior to 2500rpm. It has this amazing gurgle and popping sound when you down shift or let it drop under 1500rpm. But once you decide to open it up... this thing wails. You can hear the turbos spool during the acceleration and it's just aggressive and powerful! Man, I love it to say the least.

The only downsides are
1. The sound is pretty loud when cruising in 6th between 70 and 85. It's not drone but it's louder than I would like.
2. Since doing this mod on Wednesday evening I've had 7 different cars try to race me at different points. Aggressive exhaust notes apparently bring out the racers in this area. Before I would get maybe once a month.

Other than that I love it. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it.

P.S. When I got a ticket for the muffler delete and went back to stock, it was a very very pleasant change with no drone....but a month later I went back to muffler delete bc I was bored again
What about sec cats delete +catless dp's? how was it?

Perfect in my opinion. It's got very subtle run down and burbles, and sounds great under full throttle. Not to mention it costs very little after selling the cats.

i DD my muffler delete with catless DP's and it's fine
just cold start is loud and seems even louder cos I live in an apartment haha

sounds mean AF and the crackling and popping when coming down the rpm's is so so much fun to control with just a tiny bit of throttle when you're slowing down haha

just a little raspy for me at high RPM so I was going to install resonators, but my friends said it sounded good when I did a fly by on the highway so I'm thinking about keeping it like this.

people always seem surprised when I tell them it's just a muffler delete with catless DP's, they seem to think it should be a proper exhaust haha.
