Any mismatched springs can cause shocks to fail. Wouldn't give the SE shocks 6 months with H&R.

If you drive your car hard then you will notice your shocks aren't up to scratch. A lot of bouncing. I speak from experience. Don't have to have a fast car to notice it, i had a 320D.

But if you don't drive hard and just pitta patta about then its no problem...until your se shocks are finished

I thought otherwise against forum knowledge and one of my poor SE shocks died within 10k miles and failed its mot on a serious oil leak

H&r sports do NOT work well with SE shocks. Car is completely under-dampened and rides like plop

I couldn't be bothered changing out all the shocks so instead i bought some msport springs. These are still a compromise but match the SE shocks a hell of a lot better than the h&r sports.
Also i feel the h&r drop the rear too much. Makes you look like your running reverse rake (not cool)

So what are peoples thoughts on running H&R Sports on M-Sport shocks? Tempted by some of these and some spacers (eventually 1M reps) on my E91 M-Sport...

Measured up and theres a 10mm difference between front right and front left. The front left has dropped around 30mm. The front right has probably only dropped around 10mm (it was 10mm lower to start with) which means is is now sitting 10mm higher. Any ideas?

Could be the type of turns your doing? Start going around some left hand bends and around roundabouts the wrong way may work :

This is how my vert sat with h&rs. Is yr gap like this?...as this is the max you'll get with their sport springs. You'll need their race springs for a lower drop

yer mine sits like that maybe a tad lower at the front and the sports do me fine, I scrape enough as it is sod going lower lol

This is how its sitting now about a year on.

a year on and my m sport shocks are fine. Im also using spacers.

My next mod is to lower mine a bit. So the H&R's aren't really as harsh a ride as some people make out?

Think I may be swayed from the Eibachs now

Not at all mate. H&Rs are fine. Yes a bit stiffer say over speed bumps but generally just as smooth. They are progressive springs so still have the soft touch for minor road changes...they just get to the stiffer part quicker as they need to damp earlier to reduce travel because they are lower.
Bit wordy but hope that makes sense

Yea cheers that makes sense. My previous cars have all been lowered to a degree and I am now conditioned to always be weary of speed bumps. I just don't want to ruin the ride. I will be just fitting the springs to the M-sport shocks.

The only hurdle now is that I have my new AvantGarde rims ready to be fitted soon. They are 9J front & 10J rear. Tyres will 235/35/19 & 265/30/19. Hope these won't rub with H&R springs.

My h&r's give a very nice ride. cant even tell the difference between them and msport to be honest.

Also I got 15mm spacers on the rear and 10 on the front and don't get any rubbing.
