never made it out last night, maybe next month. I would like to meet local guys who I can share my appreciation of this brand, and learn from. we seem to be lacking any kind of "scene" around here, or maybe I am looking in the wrong places

Cracked Bumper and Dents
Hi
For all car owners who have cracked bumpers, dents, stone chips and other such damages, I would suggest you check out Auto Dentist, located at 151 Bentley Ave. The owner is pleasant and gives great customer service. Their URL is autodentist.ca. P.S. I am NOT associated with this company, nor do I have any financial interest in this company. Cheers

Did my DME update on my N55 at Young street garage, good job and in an hour. Charged me there one hour labour rate which was not bad at all.
Another garage in Gatineau had the same Autologic software, they couldn't do it. Lol at Elite, they said I've to update all my modules!! And Otto's didn't want to do an upgrade unless there's a problem !!! |

Hi all, I just moved back to Ottawa from Switzerland. Good to see that there is some BMW enthusiasm around here. So many BMW owners are only interested in hitting the start button.

Can you specifically provide a review on what sort of service you had first hand experience with via this vendor? Or perhaps you had your cracked bumper, dent and stone chip (as well as other things) fixed there? If so, well ... yikes. I am looking to get some of the stuff you mentioned (including front and rear bumpers respray) and would like to know what was before and after like? Thanks. |

Now to try to answer your question(s). I had two significant dents, caused by indiscriminate drivers who open their doors with total disregard (and some enjoyment) to the cars parked beside them. So they bang the door/quarter panel and create huge dents. My dealer suggested that I go to "autodentist". I did and I was more than satisfied, you can't discern where the original dents were located. I DID NOT REPAIR MY BUMPERS, however, I spoke to the owner and he explained that they do fix broken/cracked bumpers and scratched bumpers. I asked to see one that they had fixed, and he showed me the before pictures, and the actual car in the shop (Mercedes s-Class), and I could not see where the crack in the bumper was ... it was not discernible to my eyes. Hence I could make my recommendation in my post. I hope that answers your questions in a satisfactory manner. Cheers

Thanks Phas. I will be paying them a visit soon (based on your feedback and see how they compare). I have a dent on the roof from the Esso car wash dryer arm. And I should add that, y'll should avoid esso at Jeanne D'rc/St Joseph cause that place has dented both my vehicles

Anyone care to lend or sell me their spark plug socket (BMW or generic make) to do a N54 spark plug change?
Or, is there one I can buy locally (dealer will need to order it in and because of holidays chances of it making it in by tomorrow are slim to none. Last edited by bavaddict; 12-30-2014 at 01:12 PM.. |

Looking to get my front bumper repainted in the spring, that place sounds worth checking. I never use the auto wash, you never know what kind of damage they will do till it's too late. When i did use them before on my crappie cars i was always worried about the dryer putting a dent in the roof, you can hear it ripple under the amount of pressure. Always wash at home by hand in the summer, and there is a new wash place on merivale south of Huntclub, just past the dirty buck. Nice clean place with heated inside bays for a dollar a min. Been there a couple times now and will continue to go there till i can do it at home again.....

What about using the touch less washes in the winter time?
I got the Petrocanada season pass for the winter as I only hand wash during the summer. I'll only use the touch less washes and I find that only the Petrocanada touch less washes are effective. The other touch less washes at other stations are garbage IMO. |

The petro touchless are not bad, but i dony like high pressure spray with no ability to stop or see if something is going wrong. Should never have a problem, but if something does happen it will be too late.

I have seen paint peel from a scratch that wasn't previously noticed, emblems removed, light lenses cracked (not sure how that one happend honestly) i used to work at a gas station you would be supprised what those things can do. And if something does happen it's all on you, so i am just really paranoid. And for the nearly $20 it costs i can do a better job myself and usually save a few bucks.

Frankly, after using touchless car wash for about last 10 winters in Ottawa this was the first time I ran into the issue. Actually, I was so sure that it was my luck and not the car wash that was at fault, that I took my other car for wash to confirm my theory. Well, we know I was wrong at least for this particular car wash (ESSO on Jean D'Arc and St Joseph). So I guess, what I am saying is that I have never experienced peeling paint or cracked lens etc. but YMMV.
However, I have been using other ESSO locations - Bank and Gladstone and Montreal Road/Vanier Pkway with no issues. Sad part is that ESSO gas station owner basically told me there is nothing he can or will do because he cant see any issue from the camera that monitors the car wash bay. |
