I rode on the new maps all day. Again (like the first canbus map), didn't notice a whole lot of difference. Then again, it was highway cruising all day.

Just loaded the new maps. Went for a drive up Big Cottonwood. Please excuse any jittery typing, my heart is going about 130. That's one beat for every MPH.

Let me start by saying if you want to check out a new map, or a new mod, or just have some fun, might want to pick a route with which you are familiar. I've been up and down Little Cottonwood a hundred times. Big Cottonwood, maybe 10. Holy shit.

I loaded stage 2 6MT, adjusted throttle to 1, speed delimiter to off (1) and headed out. So in short yes, I did notice a difference. Torque rolls on sooner, giving a kick about 3000 RPM, where as before it was more like 4000. And the kick is bigger.

So back to the drive. Drove up BC, really focusing on corner exits. Plenty of clear lines of sight, no one up there, just taking corners in 1st or 2nd and really hammering the apex when I had a clear exit. As I said, no one up there. Except for the 4 cops just above the hairpins.

Took the hairpin pretty tight, not trying to push it too hard as the road is really dusty. I saw the first cop from 300 yards out across the chicane. No problem, took it easy, he wasn't beaming until I was about 100 yards out, then he just lit me up. I was doing 40 by then. Come around the corner, and there are 3 other cop cars with some guy pulled over. Two sheriff, 2 Park Service and one dude having a very bad day. Park Service has radar BTW. I politely slow down and stay as far over as I can and pass them. I start thinking .... that's every cop on patrol in the canyons. There's no one else up here...

So I get a couple turns up past them and really hammer it. On the long straight 4-5 turns above the hairpins you can really open it up. I'll just leave it at that. Went up a few more, got to the wide spot where all the campgrounds are and decided to completely disable the DSC/DTC and pull a 180 to head back.

Made my U'ey no problem. Headed back down the hill. Now, I'm fairly certain the cops are still tied up with the traffic stop, so I continue my fun. Still making sure I have plenty of visibility to see oncoming traffic (4 cars the whole trip) or ped's, so no blind corners or anything. Came down hard and fast on the straightaway. Straight ends in a hard left. A very hard 120 degree left. A very hard 120 degree left that is way too tight for 4th gear. A very hard 120 degree left that is way too tight for 4th gear that is defined by a 600 foot granite wall 12 feet off the shoulder.

I approached the corner braking for third. Downshift to third. Still too fast. Stand on the brakes. Did I mention the road is a little dusty? Did you notice above that I never said anything about re-engaging the DSC? Yeah. Oh shit. On the brakes still, sliding off the road, headed for the apex. No ABS, just too damn fast. Sooooo, back on the throttle, hard. Rock wall is about 12 feet off the shoulder, thank God. So, two wheels off the pavement onto the dirt, Xi kickin some ass, throttle hammered, and the car pulls through.

So in summary, I'm a lucky dumbass. Cars fine, little dusty, but my shorts have seen their last day. Moral of the story, DSC is my friend, and I have no business having this much power under my foot.

The new maps are great going up the canyon. Lots of low end torque.

Thanks for the review

So now that I am back among the living (hurl) I guess I should run the usb cable sometime this weekend so I can update the map.

Jason- Throttle sensitivity at 1 means the least sensitive...5 is the most sensitive. I always ride on 5, but that's just my preference.

Glad you're ok and that big cottonwood didn't kick your ass off the cliff.

Argh, ur right. The default used to be 1, and I was setting it to five. Now the default is 4, so I screwed up and set it to 1. D'oh. Oh well, update time! Need to go to the grocery anyway.

Once you have the ECU open, it takes 2 minutes. Bring it over, I'll do it for you if you'd like.

LOL yeah right. The work was done so quick installing it all that I didn't see any of it, so I figure I need to learn how to do it anyway. Good weekend project.
