I agree (as I used to change my oil & filter every 5k too), but on a 2 1/2 yr. lease, I just let BMW pay for my oil changes 1x/year.

Another point I forgot to add was after the oil change/dyno with SAE and STD conversion, try running on the track and get DR (Nitto 555R, BFG g-force, MT). Numbers are just numbers and for braggin rights . The most important thing is how fast you run including 60' time and both 1/8 and 1/4 trap speed. If you don't have drag experience I suggest to practice with burn outs. You really need to fry your rear tires to hook up - DR or slicks that is but never street tires .

I tried earlier and BMW denied it. I simply forgot about it, because the car never asked for it. Now, when I check the control check messages, it tells me than I'm 3k miles over-due.

Dude - thats an unfair statement - what makes you think its not the Magnaflow thats retarding the performance? - my numbers were right on the number, even with gas in the PNW...to actually 'blame' a certain component, you would need to baseline back to stock, then dyno after each mod...so I would change your post to 'Pathetic dyno results after various mods'

E90ice, just a heads-up. If you do not keep up with the maintenance schedule (oil changes etc), the dealer/BMW may attempt to void your warranty if a failure occurs at a later date. This post is just an FYI.

Well I change the synthetic on my S2K every 5000 kms and it comes out black, although I can see its still good. I doubt my engine would be alive after 29000km on the same oil.
I'm still waiting for the 335xi to get here but don't some of you guys also change your own oil? I mean here in Canada a 5L (~5quarts) jug of synthetic is $30, so it must be cheaper for you guys. I would take a close look at the engine because after 29000kms on the same oil I suspect some components could be damaged. Good Luck! |

That what makes me laugh about BMW oil changes of 15,000 mile increments...How are the people that buy the cars later on after leases are up going to be effected...They are going to buy a piece of crap because of all the inherent wear and tear of the motor because oil is the lifeline of an engine, and its deprived of fresh oil because BMW is cheap.

Maybe with the naturally aspirated motors, but the turbo need clean oil there is no way it will last to 100K base on 15,000 mile oil changes...They need to reconfigure for turbo engines.

I will get an oil change on Wed, unplug the battery and let PROcede V2 re-adapt, drive it hard...and then you are welcome to join me for another dyno. Hopefully they guys at Carb Connect will be nice enough to let us dyno cheap and buy them a couple of drinks.
