So another bit of preventative maintenance long overdue done today:
Look what came out of my power steering reservoir! (it's supposed to be red.....) Siphoned out using an ebay special syringe: Then refilled with this: Then engine run and a few gentle lock to locks then drained and refilled twice more: Then refilled for a final time - the fluid remains a good shade of red. I can't overstate how much better the steering feels - much smoother and a little lighter. Very easy job to do and well worth the 8 quid or so in total it cost me! |

Look what turned up in the post yesterday:
The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed its a space grey spoiler so first task was to rub down to get a good key: Then spray it with 3 coats of this: I've found that the Halfords paint is a good match for titanium silver and comes out under good pressure. I'll give it a light rub-down with some 2000 wet and dry this afternoon and then 3 coats of lacquer |

So here is the final result. I removed all the old adhesive strip and fitted a new one perfectly to the edges. Its very thin and sits in a slight recess so you cant see the strip between the spoiler and the boot
Very pleased with the finish - the colour match is good and after rubbing down the clear coat with 2000 wet and dry the surface is glassy smooth |

Now for another little awkward job I've been meaning to do for a while.
Got the diff fluid from ECP with their extra 15% off. Unfortunately 2 bottles are needed as the diff capacity is 1.3 litres. I already had the fluid pump and 14mm allen key I backed up to the edge of my garage where my drive slopes away so there was a little more room under the back of the car: And about a litre of this gunk came out: Then its just a case of pumping the new fluid in and refitting the plug |

I have booked the car in at my local bodyshop for both wings, both mirror caps and the front bumper to be removed, stone chips removed and fully resprayed. Watch this space.

Sorry mate you won't get away with a litre as the correct capacity is 1.3 litres for this diff. Having said that I drained out every last drop and only got out just over a litre. Some have removed less in other posts I've read. The fluid's less than 7 quid a litre though so not too bad.

Nice one. Dead easy to do mate. I try to do everything myself if I can unless it needs a car lift to do or needs special programming. I've saved thousands over the years plus you know it's done right. Spannering cars ain't rocket science if you read up first.

Car going into my local bodyshop tomorrow for a bumper remove, fill sand and respray along with the right wing which has faded and both mirror caps. I've bought new mesh for the bumper centre and foglight surrounds. They said they would need it most of the week but have provided a courtesy car so happy days. I'll get photos up next weekend to see what you think
