I asked Randall about the stage III when u had my DDE, but he said that was only for hybrid turbos? I know he said you gave me the 2+hot. From reading these posts, seems like I can get the 3?

Bob, should I pull those fuses for the urea tank and eliminate the tank and the wire harnesses or just fill with RV antifreeze water and leave it alone. Also that question on #3 tune

With the tune you have, fill with RV antifreeze and leave it.

Will my tune give warning on low level in urea tank? I was going to fill both tanks with distilled water. Is that my best bet?

Yes, Just fill both tanks with water. Im currently testing the new tune for a few weeks making sure to eliminate the tank fill issue some have been seeing. Testing so far has been going well.

Magnaflow 3" Cat in X5 35d DP Question for Bob

Hey Bob,

Haven't installed your DP or the DDE yet on the X. Been really busy. I am thinking of welding a Magnaflow 3" spun metallic cat in the downpipe before install. I can get 'em pretty cheap through work. I will also be installing a mid-pipe in place of the SCR cat at this time. This ride is my wife's DD and I think the Magnaflow cat in the DP may take the edge off the smell a little. I know it won't eliminate it. Diesel smell doesn't bug me on my ABC deleted 335d or Super-Duty (I Love it!), and the wife could live with it . The tune you wrote for me is similar to Jess' first mellow X5 tune. You indicated the tune would roll almost no coal when we spoke. Thoughts?

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Mark

Stuff looks good!

What's the difference between the two downpipes? X5D vs. 335D?

Forgot to ask: Do you think a cat in the DP would make enough of a difference in smell to bother with it? Anyone else want to weigh in? Thanks in advance guys

It does reduce the smell (done a few), just costs more to build one

I kept my factory DOC and it does reduce the smell substantially once it gets up to operating temperature. I know that not any cat may be suitable, but a proper one should work well.

Unfortunately not. Our cars require the US version due to additional capabilities of the emissions system and engine management. If you look up the DDE for your car on real oem, you can see all of the current and superseded part numbers that cross reference. You can also do this with several of the online BMW dealer parts sites.

Nope, it looks like an older edc15. I have a few DDE's I use for troubleshooting I can sell that I know they work since I have tested them.

Sidenote, it would be fun to try and get an older DDE(edc15 or 16) to work with the US m57 since you can delete EWS & flash via OBDII
