Kind of reminds me of the Dinan exhaust as far as the tips go. A little bit of the "tip inside a tip" look.
Congrats ezatnova! Hope you enjoy.

It's odd...the OUTSIDE measurements is basically the same. Perf Ex may be slightly larger (1/4" or so), but, since it's not "rolled" like the stock tips, the inside diameter is larger. So, they definitely LOOK larger. Physically, they are barely larger.

Thanks! I am enjoying. It really sounds mean. Honestly, I will enjoy it even more when/if BMW fixes the 29.2 mess and the car sounds like it "should." Obviously, the BMW engineers designed this thing on a properly running, non 29.2'd car, and I think it would sound fantastic without the excessive popping and volume in lower gears/low throttle.

It really does sound very good.
I'm a little surprised that the performance muffler looks so close to stock, but then again, I can see how BMW would want it to look stock from underneath the car. I would have thought that BMW would have focused a little more on providing an exhaust that weighs a bit less than the non sport exhaust. The sound is great! BTW, I'm just assuming that the performance exhaust weighs the same by the looks of it. It might weigh less, but I doubt it.

And yeah, personally, I'm not shocked that these aren't some polished or chrome looking mufflers...BMW would have none of that! They are looking for efficient performance here. You get a free flowing design giving you a few extra ponies, and a great sound that they spent a while tinkering with to get right. They spent time making the tips quality and great looking, which is the only part that BMW assumes we ever see I kind of agree. You see these friggin exhausts out there with POLISHED PIPES and mufflers. WTF? Do you want your car to look hot if you roll it?! |

Whenever I purchase a polished exhaust, the first thing I do before I install it is paint the muffler flat black. The only thing that I want to look nice and poilshed is the tips. I was glad that when I picked up the borla muffler that it wasn't polished so I didn't have to do any of that. Congrats again.

You can barely see my Eisenmann when it's installed and tucked up under the chassis. Every company is different I guess, but I liked the polished mufflers and piping.

Thanks for all of the information. I just put my car back to stock, from Britalman. I would have guessed that the BMW performance exhaust would have bolted up to the end of the downpipe, and saved almost 30lbs. If you have ever had the stock system off the car, it is amazing the bends and crimps that are in it. I was hoping the "performance" exhaust would have addressed those short comings.
Glad you like it, seems to sound great! |

As far as the bends and crimps: "I was hoping the "performance" exhaust would have addressed those short comings". As far as the sections: "I would have guessed that the BMW performance exhaust would have bolted up to the end of the downpipe, and saved almost 30lbs." I didn't fail to realize either aspect. I read the whole thread, every word. |

Hoping that Dinan addresses this same issue with a cat back exhaust (perpetually 'under development'). I have been waiting to drop the $$ on an exhaust since I want to to purchase the Dinan chip, and I am a careful optimist when it comes to the 335i.
