Installed the fogs yesterday with the 10000uf/25v caps. drove around for a couple hours and no flickering or codes.
I bought the caps from a local elecronics store here in santa clara for 1.40 each. hope i can return my radioshack ones. now i need to switch out my headlights to 6000k. my 3000k fogs are overpowering them. they're really bright and look yellow/white but light up the ground very yellow.

I think you might be a little confused because in no way fashion or form does a stock h11 (for E90) halogen bulb put out more than a 6000k HID bulb.

yeah, i know i'll lose light output. for some reason, the 3000k gives more of a white color when looking at the lights directly but outputs a very yellow color on the road. the white of the 3000k looks whiter than the stock headlight xenons. i dunno, maybe it's the cheap ebay HID kit i got. :\ i think a 5000k or 6000k will match it better. ideally, i want a 5000k bulb but can't find a reputable company that makes a d1s at 5000k.

I think HID 3000k are that way. However, the more i drive the less white i have now. May be the bulbs were new thats why it has that white light.

Funny side note,
I ordered a set of HID H8's ina kit from an ebay source. I was able to request a "special digital wire harness" to have them not throw a code with my higher end car. There was no extra charge. The Kit came yesterday afternoon and upon inspection of the "digital wire harness", it looks just like what 335redline has done with the capacitors. Looks to be a little smaller in size and it does have the clips all assembled so there is no soldering needed. I'll cut open the shrink wrap to see what rating the capacitor is and post a pic later. And the whole kit was shipped in 3 days for $40 total

opened up the "digital harness" and found a 10000uf cap.
I tried the kit without the cap and it turned on and then would shut of and throw a foglamp code I added the cap and it would flicker like 3 times and then stay off... no code I double checked to make sure that I had the wires connected correctly and everything seemed to be correct all the neg was neg and the positive was positive. I then swithched the pos and neg and "pop" the cap blew out. So it was right the first way. like I thought it was. Does anyone think that the 10000uf cap is too much for my LCI E90 335? Should i swap in a cap with a smaller rating? BTW the kit is a 35w12v kit with digital ballast.

Here's a pic. I double checked and the arrow does point to the neg side. I'll have to try it all again later. I just wanted to make sure that using a larger than needed cap wasn't the problem

Everything works great. just gotta make sure that the kit is propperly hooked up to the negative(solid brown wire side on the BMW OE plug) all the way through with the black wire on the cap and then black to the neg on the ballast.
Only thing I modded about the kit was to fit the correct male plug ends to the cap "digital wire harness". This just eliminates like a foot of un-needed wire. Here is the kit I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT Ordered in H8 at 5000K with the special "digital wire harness" for free for my LCI E90 Color at 5000K is still a little more blue/purple than the OEM xenon.

I also removed the other wire from the rubber boot. I did not use this wire --- Blue arrow. and just make sure that when you re assemble the plug head on the cap wire that the BLACK pin will connect to the BROWN on the BMW OE female plug Last, after it is all ready, you must make sure that the black wire side of the cap harness connects to the NEGATIVE side ( or bottom in my pic) on the ballast.

thanks for the picture, any reason you didn't plug the cap cable to the connect near bulb instead of directly to ballast? wouldn't that mean you don't have to swap plugs?
