Procede cars are trapping significantly higher than 108mph...Hell, some publications are quoting 105mph stock trap speed. I can't provide any links off hand but I'm fairly confident I've seen v2 results in the mid to low 12s nearing 115mph.

edit: two threads down as of 11:00pm pacific, EVO8MRto335i has a thread with track results of 12.7x @ 110.xx...with v1.47 of the procede. v2 cars obviously are going to be substantially quicker and faster unless there's a monkey behind the wheel.

Look, "FirstClass" is correct. It's very simple matter of looking at the trap speeds. Procede, even V2.0.1, can not touch the M5/M6 after around 110 MPH. It is getting close though, but the 335i would need another 30-40whp to clearly starting walking those cars at those speeds. The cost of that much more HP is probably going to be high. As we get into colder weather, we'll see higher trap speeds, but it's not going to be more than a 2-3 more MPH than we've seen.

He said a "snowballs chance in hell", but that is not the case. Yes a M5/M6 is faster, but the margin is not a "snowballs chance in hell", its much closer especially below 120mph.

I never said below 120. It is a snowball's chance in hell. Unless I missed the post where people were easily taking their 335's over 200.

i am going to up the % by 5 and see if i get knock again or see if anything happens. I have run the settings the V2 came with for about 1000 Miles so lets see if anything changes. Im guessing the car has had time to addapt.

IMO

- 91 octane AKI ( 95-96 octane RON ) is the minimum requirement where you should be careful to don't get bad gas.

- 93 octane AKI ( 97-98 octane RON ) and the PROcede V2 predefined torque settings is a very safe and powerful combination.

- 100% across the board seems to be safe with 96 octane AKI or race gas ( 100-101+ octane RON ).

A more efficient FMIC will help in addition.


BTW, the standard V2 settings work perfect for me. I use them with Shell V-Power 100 octane ( RON ) gas. It's good to know that I could use 95-96 octane RON as well not getting into any troubles e.g. when I am not able to get the usual gas quality. The higher octane rating provides a higher safety margin and more power to me. I like to be on the bullet-proof safe side, when it comes to my car's engine tuning .

Eugen are you basing this on IAT's? Knock sensor readings?

I think to be scientific here we need to know the IATs that are being produced on 100% torque settings along with the boost being run. Then it would be wise to look at the compressor maps and find out if we might see the turbo running out of its efficiency range. There seems to be a ton of speculation here.

It is just a recommondation to have anything you can refer to. Normally I could not contribute at all, to avoid the "ton of speculation". I tell you how I handle V2 on a very safe basis, which is useful until we know more.

However, it would be great if you could provide the data you mention in your posting to get better background information and help to force the pace to get scientific results.

Eugen,

I am coming off another boosted car and trying to make decisions. What I am finding is a lot of speculation here without data. I guess the first thing to find would be compressor maps. Do you know what turbo exactly we have? I am positive shiv could provide us the IAT's he had at 100% on V2 with 93 pump fuel. This info would help the community immeasurably!

No other car outside the 135 and 535 in the BMW lineup and no other car besides those, period. Custom designed by BMW and custom built by Mitsubishi.

Let's put it like this:

Unless more and broader experience is available don't save money on the gas. It does not hurt to use Shell 93 octane for a while until the next maps will be available and EVERYBODY got more experience with V2. And it can save a lot of money and troubles by doing so. Hey guys, you got V2 and we all knew that early adoptors will have to deal with early issues.

For me it's a normal process and very interesting to see how a product evolves.

I have a limited knowledge about turbo petrol engine tuning but I know my car, the PROcede and engines in general pretty good. And I'm learning day by day. It's not my profession. With this limited capabilities I try to contribute as good as I can.
