First Bear Mtn. Run in May

Alrighty everyone, it's that time of year again: time to start throwing around the first official Bear Mtn. meet date. Tentatively setting it for the weekend of May 17th with a backup date of May 24th. Please let me know availability.

The date of the event is Sunday May 18th.

Part 1 of the Run: Bear Mtn.

The meeting spot will be at the Home Depot parking lot in the Palisades Mall around 9-9:30 AM. If you can't meet at Home Depot then you'll be able to meet us at the top of Bear Mtn. by going up Perkins Memorial Drive at around 10:15-10:45 (varies depending on who shows up and when we finally roll out).

Part 2 of the Run: Storm King

Dangerous/reckless driving will not be tolerated. Storm King is a very narrow and beautiful scenic overlook of the Hudson Valley. Problems last year with the police have given us issues, but assuming everyone behaves we shouldn't have a problem.

No burnouts, crossing double yellow lines, or any stupid behavior. It is a dangerous road with a 1 ft. high retaining wall stopping you from a 600 ft.+ drop.

Either before or after Storm King we will stop for lunch in the town of Cornwall.

Part 3 of the Run: An alternative to Storm King

Occasionally Storm King (Rt. 218) is closed for hiking/biking until 2 PM. If that is the case and we don't feel like waiting we can take a scenic trip up Route 9. Alternatively, we can also see about checking out the last two section of a recent map I found from a fellow E90Post member: http://goo.gl/maps/XBYlX

Check out the last two parts F & G for what I'm talking about.

Otherwise, that's it! Looking forward to a good time in less than a month!

Just wanted to thank everyone for coming out today despite the difficulties with the route... Hoping for a normal route next time. I'm aiming for June 8th possibly as the next group drive. What does everyone think?

For anyone who's in Westchester or CT or is nearby, I'd like to have a group meet at the next caffeine and carburetors (cars and coffee) in New Canaan, CT on June 15th. Incredible cars and usually someone from Drive on YouTube or Road & Track is there. Anyway leave your thoughts below - thanks guys!
