Ryan (@ryanselk on IG) sent in these photos of his LSX swapped Pre-LCI e90 on our brand new VS-5RS wheels. We've seen a few adventurous customers run the 18x10.5 ET40 in the rear although this fitment can rub along the inner liners and subframe with aggressive tire fitments.

Hi there,

Here is some additional information regarding that particular fitment for the non-M E9X 3-Series:

Front & Rear: 17x9.5" ET35 with 255/40-17 tires
-Available in ARC-8, ARC-8R, and EC-7R designs.
-At least 5mm front spacers are required for inner strut clearance.
Aftermarket suspensions that are known for reduced inner clearance (see
below) can not be used with this fitment.
-Front negative camber may be required.
-275/40-17 tires can be used with additional negative camber and may
require rolled rear fenders.

With a 17x9.5" ET35 wrapped in 255/40-17 tires at all four corners, this setup will require a 5mm front spacer to clear the factory suspension components. With aftermarket coilovers known to reduce front/inner suspension clearance (KW, ST, Bilstein, etc) you will not be able to run this setup without significant front negative camber, as 12mm spacers will be necessary to clear those suspension components up front. Front camber plates will also be required with this setup but the exact front negative camber requirement will depend on your ride height and specific tire selection. Wider 275/40-17 tires can also be used but will require additional negative camber to fit.

I’m in the market for some 19s and am noticing most people go with 18” for their e92 (non m). Is there a clear reason for this? I’ve always preferred the look of 19 over 18, but maybe I’m missing a clear reason people go for the latter. For reference, I’m looking at arc8’s in the following spec for my ‘12 e92 335i:

Front 19x8.5” +33
Rear 19x9.5” +35

I’m lowered on kw v2’s and no camber plates.

Biggest reason is 18's ride way better. I think those will fit fine as KW's have pretty good clearance and unless you have the fronts lowered all the way, the spring perch usually sits above the tire even with 19s.

I assume generally, but do they ride better on the arc 8’s specifically in this case or in general?

I’m on 19” style 230’s now and have 0 complaints on how it rides. Maybe it’s a personal preference type of thing.

BTW: Correction on the offsets, it’s +35 front* & +33 rear*

It's just a general thing, the Apex wheels don't change that. They're lighter so if the difference is noticeable, it will be in the right direction.

That's the main reason people go 18's so I think you'll be happy with 19's. The only issue you may have is the spring perch touching the tire if you go pretty low but you'll just have to experiment. You could always upgrade to some linear shorter springs if it turns out to be an issue.

I’m planning to get a little tire tuck in the front and maybe a very small amount on the rear. I’ll be wrapping them in pilot sport 4s
