You can program those steering wheel buttons BTW. On my '08 coupe it's: main idrive screen/ press down knob/ settings / steering wheel buttons.

Off topic, but I think you just told a lot of people that their life calling is to be a prostitute.

Unfortunately, the "star" programmable button on the steering wheel has been removed from the 2009 model E90....

On my 2009 E90, there is no star button on the steering wheel, so my options are:

1) Push the on/off volume button on the dash. This will "pause" the iPod.

or

2) Switch to Radio

3) I have noticed that when making a phone call, the car does not automatically pause the iPod (which is annoying: my old E39 would pause the CD Changer automatically when I made a call on my BMW CPT8000 telephone). What I have found easiest to do is to switch to the radio (which I can do with the steering wheel button that replaces the "star" button on the 2009's) and then make the call. When the call is over, I toggle back from the Radio to the iPod. This is stupid, but it allows me to do the entire operation from the steering wheel.

I still don't understand why BMW dropped the "star" button from the steering wheel on the 2009's. My guess is that they surveyed folks and found that nobody used it. But I would kill to have it. (And I'd like more than 6 assignable preset buttons on the stereo!)

I didn't know that me e92 would have worse interior creaks and rattles than either my riced out 150k mile '93 Accord or my '97 Land Rover.

There are more than 6. Press the AM or FM button and additional range appears. I have 12 AM stations preset, and 18 FM.

I believe they're talking about the 6 push buttons that are located on the console, numbered 1 - 6, that you can assign almost anything to, not just radio stations.

We are talking about the iDrive version - the six buttons here can be assigned to just about anything - not just radio presets.

I've got that now, and should have realized it. I didn't opt for iDrive at the time of purchase, based on reviews and what other people told me. If doing it now, I would give iDrive a thorough try and might choose differently, since I'm a fan of gadgets and controls that I can tweak and customize.

I'm sure this is already in this post somewhere...Little tidbit...

If you DON'T have Comfort Access....after you shut your car off..take your key out...don't open the door....but give your start button a push with your foot on the brake...viola! car starts without the key :-)

I guess if you've had uncomfortable ones before, this would be a point.

The windscreen washer only sprays for 10 seconds, then stops. Afterwards you can only spray it for a further 10 seconds before it stops again. It won't let you spray it again for several minutes afterwards. I assume it to prevent the pump overheating.

I can't believe they dropped the star button. Also my E92 pauses the iPod when I make a call.
