Ed, that's a healthy looking coyote. It even has a bit of a winter coat. It's amazing how their behaviors are almost exactly the same, no matter where you see them.

So while waiting for the meteors to appear (which they didn't) I needed to test out what I was doing. 31 seconds of guided bliss and you can just make out some of the nebulosity around the stars.

Big Buck In Cattails by David Stephens, on Flickr
The last couple of weeks I've been striking out with the big bucks, but I saw four last night. I love this guy, hiding in the cattails.

Dave,
It was 5.6/31 sec/1200 with the 300/4/5DIV. This was nicer than with the 2xiii as it added too much weight. Tough buck shot through the tails either manual or auto. Nice! I think if he had velvet on that would be funny in the tails. I see so many I ignore them. Had a mom and baby in my bushes for weeks.

This is one of the cutest things I have ever seen (and heard). This is one of two pups who were rough housing around, when this one went off and did his best attempt at a howl.He has some work to do, but he will get the hang of it with more practice.

I was able to go out and shoot some of the dams that had opened up some flood gates the other week. They were supposed to open more, but ended up only opening half as promised. I think it was still really interesting to see. Here's one of my favorites from that day.

Just returned from a business trip to Chicago. Chicago is a great city for photographers, unfortunately I had a short time the evening I arrived and a short time the morning the day I left to slip out for some photo taking. This one was taken at dusk.

Duffus Castle and Aurora Borealis
I take lots of Aurora and night pictures and one of my favourite locations for these shots is Duffus Castle, just 3 miles from home. I also shoot aurora pictures at our local West Beach, just a mile from home. The castle provides a much more pictorially pleasing foreground, but the best aurora shots are taken from the beach looking north towards Wick and Orkney.
So here is a shot of Duffus Castle at night and facing north, with an aurora shot taken 2 miles away. Cheating ? No, I don't think so, not if you're open and up front about how the image came about.
