I think the ladies are more keen on euro men, so you have that going for you..not sure about the right hand drive...maybe you can use your car for the postal service i guess!

not that I am aware of...since you are not really auto tranny. only potential problem with being euro spec'd is fuel ratings are different.

Can someone with a manual car upload their TRC for CAS so we can compare it and see if anything else changes in that module or if it's changed something in another module.

Seems like the gear with an ! in the middle of it is in season these days...this thread is over 50 pages and not one mention of this error, and now in the last couple of days few people have reported it...so now I guess is my turn...some background first, I don't have an NFRM sub-module and I want to disable the DRL, so I tried to do it directly in the main CAS module:
As a trial for coding the main CAS itself, I decided to try to restore the main CAS module to OEM condition using the .TRC file created before any coding, i.e the one I backed up the very first time I used NCSExpert. I copied the file over to the NCSExpert Work directory and made another copy of it and called it .MAN. After I read the main CAS as per ususal, it created an FSW_PSW.TRC, let's call it FILE1. Then instead of clicking "Process ECU", I clicked "Process car" (F3), and then "Code Car" (F1). It started going through the coding and got to sub-module 6BMOT and failed, and I got the infamous yellow gear with an ! in the middle of it. So I figured I'm screwed already, might as well try something else to fixt it...so I tried to repeat coding the main CAS but this time using the last good .TRC file, which would be FILE1 above, so I copied that file over to Work directory and created a copy of it and called it .MAN. I tried the same coding procedure as above, and it failed the same as above and at the same stage, but this time the gear error has disappeared. Don't know if I just got lucky or if there is some sort of a logic that you must always use the last .TRC it spits out for that module or sub-module and modify it, as opposed to using an older .TRC that perhaps has somehow become obsolete...I think at some point I did compare the .TRC files created on different dates for the same modules and without any coding in between, and some of the parameters in the two files were different! P.S. I just noticed that for some reason I can not explain, my DRL light (high beam) is ON full strength now as opposed to dimmed per normal! Last edited by Wissam; 02-02-2011 at 09:09 PM.. Reason: Clarification: replaced "and got the same error message" with "and it failed the same" |

So all the connectivity errors I had before was due to cable with the clear / silver cable. Which was weird because it could connect to an e46 and e53 just fine... Anyway I ended up getting the same black cable that everyone else got and sure enough it worked on my car no problem.
All the usual stuff like corner delete, digital speed etc... worked. CIC - NAVI_FUELSTOP_PROPOSAL - Worked. I updated the doc on google to reflect it. CIC - NAVI_MAPMODE_AUTOMATIC - Day/Night/Auto Menu showed up however setting it to auto did nothing. Lights on or off, in auto mode did nothing. Map always stayed in Day mode. Thanks for the help everyone, I'm going to start tinkering to give back to this thread Last edited by 2kaccordocoupe; 02-01-2011 at 10:47 PM.. |

Amlethae are you having the error also? We need a TRC from CAS of a car that has already been coded and has the error so we can compare. |

As Wissam noted above, the problem started for me when I did "Process Car" and then "Code car".
I am going to try to do the same steps he did to get rid of this stupid yellow error that keeps coming up on my screen and wont go away. |
