Is it possible to demand the new FP P/N I would, assuming the new pump is actually more stout. Can anyone who does have the new FP comment on its durability?

It might even be worth ordering the new FP from tischer.....

Can BMW hurry up and fix this issue so I can buy a 335xi coupe. I mean there have been FP issues since the release of the 335i as well as other models years before.

Really bullshit when you think about how much these cars cost.

it not the service departments' call

Everybody is in the same boat on this one .. owners and service folks alike ...

if it were up to the dealer they'd be using the 943 .. but till their supply of 881's are gone ... the regional PDC will not refresh the supply.. probably due to getting the new PuMA specialists in place.. but that is only a guess..

I did read a post either on here or Bimmerfest that someone had bought the new 943 pump from Tisher and installed it themselves. That was only a little while ago so it is way too early to tell if this one will fail or not.

Even though the pump was only released one month ago (I guess you missed the first post of this thread), I know this one is going to be a long term fix for it.

All I had to do was look into my

I know the new pump was released.

But One month is not very long, and there is no guarantee that the new FP is going to be any better than the original if there is actually something else in the engine compartment causing the FP to fail.

Good to hear that you have the new pump installed and you have had no problems since.

Looks like Tischer has the pump for $264, not bad for some piece of mind, assuming this pump actually performs

Anyone know about how much it would be to install?

$264? Can you verify this with them? That is cheaper by quite a bit than the former pump.

Someone in another thread actually installed this new pump themselves. There are instructions out there somewhere that he used. Only took a couple hours he said.

Fwiw, I read somewhere that there is a SENSOR that should usually be replaced also.
Anyone know what sensor that is ???

good news !!

the 881 has been officially "phased out" / PDC's will not fulfill any more orders for this part##

all new orders for HDP's (aka HPFP) will be supplied with 943's
so ... the wait grows shorter to see what the 943's are made out of ...

cheers

Two weeks on the new 943 pump and the engine starts immediately every time and no error codes whatsoever.

Yes, two weeks is not sufficient time to make a determination regarding the pump's reliability, but I wanted to provide an update.

Yep. My baby received a new HPFP (new P/N 13517594943) and is ready to be picked up. I insisted for the car NOT to be touched until the Service Advisor and Tech were sure the "943" part number was going to be the one installed, and it "seems" like everything went well. We shall see what happens, can't wait to read the service notes.

Keeping fingers crossed...

better than good news !!

as of today 881 are to be returned to PDC immediately -- this part# cannot be installed or sold

superceded 943 will be the only available part for supply in the case of an HDP failure ..

881 are out of the loop --
