They will get a special software from BMW (WTF???) and hope that this will help. My car has the latest SW already, so I have no clue why my car would need special software . Not even sure I want to have a special software... next time there is a new software update I will probably screwed again.

I have no tune, just the original Power Kit with a bigger oilcooler and a ETS FMIC.

Any suggestions to put the guys in the right direction
Misfires in mine car were finally fixed by a new ECU.

I did had the misfires at cyl 6. No m3 strutbrace, I do have the Afe intake which lifts the hood a very tiny bit..(you see a print in the hood isolation)

ECU replacement finally solved the rough cold idle....
I hope they sort it out!

my car just starting having missfires at WOT and i came across this thread while doing some research on the matter. i have to say i am now very scared this might be a serious problem, i have a few questions though, is this a problem that my JB3 or DCI could have cuased? would removing it solve the problem, if not and i remove the mods and tuner codes before bringing it in will the dealership still see the problem and attept to fix it. For all the United states drivers did you tell the delaership you were running mods if you had them? Also i am getting the concesus that the only thing that really fixed the problems was replacing the DHE, is that true?

I have no tune (only power kit) and some people are completely standard having this problem. To be sure make your car standard and see how the car behaves. Worth a try.

I've taken my car in fully modified (Stage 3). They never seem to really have an issue stock. What i think, is that the car is put under more stress so shows the weakness faster with tune. Stock, it would take more time so no one really knows when or if they ARE having issues. I believe in my case, the fuel pump has been failing so the BMW DME software has been de-tuning the power levels. With a tune added, the car is being demanded on so it counters the DME de-tuning, hence the issues with tunes. My theory...

Today i started the car and the rpm's jumped from 300rpm to 1700rpm and then back to 500 rpm then 1000rpm and then settled at 700rpm and stayed.... tell tale signs...

I have been having this problem for some time and every time I bring it up with the S/A I was told the uneven idle is normal......normal my ass.
07 6MT with Dinan and MSD80. Along with the idle have been having Ultra Limp Mode(power not reduced, power goes completely, Idle bouncing up and down 500rpm-1500rpm on its own, pressing gas pedal does nothing, have to coast across 5 lanes of traffic to shoulder). BMW has no explanation other than it is the tune doing it. Variety of codes out the yin yang(30f0, 30f1, 30f2, 30ff, 2a17, 2fbf, 2d1d, 2ab4) Have h ad injectors and turbos and wastgates replaced. Have been thinking it is the DME for some time now but hard to convice anyone of this. They tell me that if the DME was bad then the car would not run or it woud show it in codes. (How can a faulty part diagnose itself correctly?)
I realize this thread is old but for those who have had the problem, have you found your solution?

This doesn't answer your question directly, but have you thought about joining the CA class-action lawsuit that has apparently begun? Check this forum for posts...

Rick

ooops - looks like you were the one that started the lawsuit thread, so I guess you've thought about it!

Wow, that IS big news. That should make some corporate butts quiver and clench. I hope.

The article mentions lower resale values, and that's a very real issue.
