That would be "The 1" who is up there now. My wifes family is in Vancouver/Burnaby. I'm enjoying the 70 degree weather

Nice shot, Paul. I like the perspective. I was following the construction of that tower by webcam some years ago. I'd love to see it in person one day.

EDIT: Luckily the tower was designed by people with much better taste than those who designed its website. Yuck.

Rowdy,
That looks just like it. Just North of Vancouver or the islands?
No tire chains yet, but on my shopping list

When the roads get busy, I match everyone's speed, but when roads are empty, I just set it and forget it at a couple over the limit (GPS speed, not speedometer speed). So as it gets close too rush hours I'm doing 80mph with the traffic flow in some areas.

^^Nice shot, Denn. I wanted to make it there on my last NYC trip but didn't. I'd read the front of the cathedral was covered in scaffolding.

Your next lens need to be a tilt-shift.

Reed,
In Californication, even if the roads are clear they can make you carry chains in the high country. It is not a cheap ticket if you get one. At Yosemite, they don't plow the roads till late Spring. The latest they have done it was the beginning of July. I just bought some SCC Z6 cables which seem to be the cable of choice for a couple of weeks from now I'll be up there. So I'd call or google the rules about the high country. If you want, I'm 20 miles E. of SF and you could send them to me if needed. There are people in Sacramento too.

Agree on the tilt shift! I just got the canon17mm tilt shift with the rebate this past Christmas and am blown away by it! Especially for architecture shots.

I was struggling to pic a photo to post tonight (just got back from a great dinner, with way too much wine, including a port with desert!), when I noticed someone favored an old pic of mine on Flickr, so I am going with it!

This is one half of the duo of my two best friends Lenny and Carl. This is Carl having a snooze, in a photo I originally captioned, "Happiness is a favorite blanket!"

My little black kitty went to see the vet today and is under the watchful eye of another foster.
I'm sans black cats.

Well I hope it works out OK. My two not so little black kitties were rescued from a shelter, and I have never had better companions. Black cats are not the first picks at shelters, but I couldn't be happier with my two characters.
This is the first night in their new home. (Sorry for the flash eyes, this was with a P&S)

My black beast, Maxie, was smaller than my wristwatch the day we found him and his sister under a wet bush near our apartments in MA. Momma cat had them there and then left when the sprinkler system soaked the bush. They still had umbilical cords attached. Maybe two days old. These were taken a week or so after we found them.

That was 12 years ago. Today Maxie is a 26lb beast (on a diet and losing weight slowly). His sister Miss Tortie is getting to be an old lady and is slim and fit. Both excellent cats.

Maxie's full name is Maxito Benito Juarez. He even ran for President once and did well in the initial polls.

I had two solid black cats as fosters so I know how hard they are to adopt. The younger of the two just died of a blood clot and the other is having urinary issues, so he needs some "draino" work on his plumbing. If you google it, black cats generally are the best friends you will ever have. We had one for some 15+ years. It's nice to know the story of Lenny and Carl.

Mark,
Do you realize how hard it is to keep kittens that young alive? Without their mom it is nearly impossible. Are they really bonded to you? Or are they turds? I'd guess bonded

Congratulations to you and your wife.

They're bonded. Especially the Tortie. She adores my wife and loves burying her head in my wife's hair like she did when she was tiny. And we had a very good vet assistant who bottle fed them for the first couple of weeks after we found them. We made sure to reward her well, although she almost refused anything from us. People like her are hard to find.

Poor Maxie has had both knees repaired. One of them twice. He can still walk, but he's got a very pronounced limp. He's also got diabetes which we control with diet. We pay a bundle for his special food each month. Personally I think it's a scam that low cal food for cats can only be purchased at a vet's office by prescription.

Our black cat had cartilage issues and they did suggest hip replacement surgery, we declined and she lived a long and happy life. She still chased the other cats around but for very short distances.
Depending on what you pay at the vet, there can be other alternatives. I buy my prescription foods at a pet food store which has vets there. So they sell it to me without asking anything. I use Royal Canin which is the equivalent to "kitty crack". Very addictive stuff, they love it.

I see how you got them to live now. It takes someone with a lot of time and care to raise ones that small. We only know of one person who is capable and has the knowledge to do it. We have had to spoon feed only one foster. We ended up having to adopt her as she became a really big bitch at adoption and made herself unadoptable. At home she is really sweet and nice.
Ok, enough. I went to St. Marys college today and shot this with the 300. They were playing Pittsburg and beat the crap out of them. I know nothing about Rugby but you can get some really good pictures.

Actually I do know something about Rugby. They still play while one of their mates is lying on the ground in agony with an injury.

Aren't there rules in rugby against reaching up the other guy's shorts????? What kind of game is that anyway? Must be British.

Interesting, I'll start looking going into it today. I know they could end up handy here if I head into the mountains, so no harm in starting the search early.

Il let you know if I have any problems finding them here and may end up shipping them to you Luke you suggested. The offer is much appreciated.

ISO 25600!!

ISO 25600!! by dcstep, on Flickr

Don't ask me how, but I accidentally spun the ISO dial to 25600. That requires two moves when set in Av mode, but I did it.

Lots of Chromanance NR applied. Still, it's quite usable, up until around 2000-pixel size.
