How hard is it to change bushing yourself? Instead of replacing the whole control arm

These being M3 bushings are hard to do as I have to compress the bushing, cut it to spec and then press it into the arm. Stock bushings are very easy they come out and go in with a press almost no force required, could probably do it with a hand tool

Sucks about the rubber, good practice to align after most types of suspension work. Also not a horrible idea to do it every couple years regardless. At least it wasn't a set of expensive Michelins.

I guess AWD have different arms than RWD(M or not) so swapping arms may not have been an option? Either way, I hope you get things sorted soon.

Nothing wrong with them. Doing these for a guy local to me that wants them on his xdrive car. But in retrospect I'm not 100% sure about the ones on my car since I cut them myself instead of having the machine shop do them. In 50/50 between taking it to get aligned as it is now and see if it's fine with how I cut them or if taking them out and wasting a set of bushings and putting these perfect ones in

I kept off the alignment after getting these tires because I was gonna do the bushings but that took too long and well here is the result lol. The xdrive suspension almost looks reversed from the rwd. So these bushings actually go in the front arms on the m3 but I'm putting them on the rearward front arms on xdrive. Can't just do the whole arm

Im sure youre okay with your current ones I mean even if it is off slightly the balljoints would compensate I would think. I'll see if I can dig up my alignment page from when I did mine. It was definitely off

This is pretty unlikely to work. Typically for tire warranty they want to have an alignment at the time of installation, records of regular rotation (if applicable), yada yada yada.

Uniformity warranty is stated as only covering the first 1/32nd of wear which is long gone after 12k miles. They're gonna say that the car's poor alignment caused the wear (which it did) unless the service writer is being incredibly nice to you.

Yeah, I was just thinking that . Since the wear happened because of an alignment or bad suspension parts, they most likely won't reimburse anyting back.

But, if the thread wore out before the manufacture's mileage warranty, you can get money reimbursed. At least that what discount tire does

I mean it was a nice thing to consider when I first heard of it but it's such an obvious alignment fault that there's no way to cover it up. I'll still try and push for it but doubt it'll get anywhere.

I think the best I could do is try to bribe the tech there lol but I know they would probably get in trouble when a tire goes back to the manufacturer and it doesn't look like a tire fault but rather the vehicle it was on.

Now I'm looking for a couple Indy 500s or a similar tire if anyone has any suggestions, I really like these and their price too I'll be getting it aligned this time lol specially since coloradoe9x has the same control arm mod I have and that car was off

Other than the obvious cords sticking thru how do you rate the indy 500s compared to others? As highly as I think of the 330i and my driving skillz, realistically I'm not sure that either of them are at the level where I would be able to tell Indy 500s from PS4S. I'm considering going with them, and putting new shoes on this thing is coming up soon.

Issue with comparing with others is the tires I had before were Michelin as3s and those gripped great but they were a bit noisy and you could somewhat easily reach the limit in corners. These tires you'd have to be doing dumb crap to reach their limit when they're warm, great turn in and they hold corners really well also have basically no road noise. Only complaint is that they can be touchy in the wet but well by the wear pattern you can see in my tire, I probably wasn't making full use of the center of it when raining anyway.

I want to try ps4s but the Indy 500s are that much cheaper and I already know they're good

Thanks. The PS4s are twice the price, I'm pretty sure they're not twice as good. I'm wondering if I'll be able to tell any difference at all considering I'll never go to the track and I don't see pushing 10/10 on the street.

Did some repairs of small things that individually don't doom a car but cumulatively add up to a trip to the crusher. Rusty brake line bracket, replacing the lines with copper-nickel. The threaded inserts on the bottom of the trunk liner that unscrewed along with their rusted bolts, got a assortment of those for $8 on ebay and replaced the corroded muffler heat shield.

I'd love to get rocky moutain high. My nephew lived there in Denver for a couple years and I never visited, now he flew the coop for Phoenix, still on my list to visit.

I really should go ahead and name all my vehicles Christine, that's how they all end up. There's no better way to get to know your car that to completely disassemble it and put it back together tho, now I don't have to wonder "what could be in there making that noise".

You absolutely could do brake lines, the copper-nickel brake line is very easy to bend, and the $20 flare tool is just a little clamp with a forming die. There really ain't nothing to it but to do it.
