![]() I asked if she'd let me take it around for a bit and show it to my friends. She said sure but only for about 30 minutes and she kept mentioning the price of fuel (I don't blame her). Anyways, in the short period of time I've driven this car, which is about a good 100 miles or so of driving, I've managed to find the perfect seating position. It took me a long time to fine-tune my seat in the e92, so this came as quite a surprise. So the car has about 380-somethin' miles on it, and it hasn't really been pushed at all past 4.5k RPMs, so I decided to go further up the rev range to see what it feels like. Let me just say, this thing pulls. And pulls. And pulls. No matter what gear, no matter what speed. My friend was even more amazed at the sheer simplicity of the speed we were attaining. We just nipped 140 while the thing was still pulling like a mother. It was so controlled and so quiet (btw don't post any crap about speeding in public. I've heard it all). The transmission feels like it heightens in urgency the more you push the engine. The more throttle you give it, the higher the revs, the faster and more noticeable the shifts become (or at least seem). The amazing part is how flexible I found the car to be. When it was time to marvel at the interior amenities, I just hit the transmission toggle switch until the dash read 'C' (comfort I suppose) and the transmission was as smooth shifting and unnoticeable as any other top-notch automatic. It was amazing. The car is going to be detailed soon, so I hope to take some good pics after that's done. I still need someone to instruct me on how to upload pics from my Nikon D40 on here because I tried doing that once when I got my e92 and it didn't work due to file size. Just to say it again...I f*cking love this car. ![]()

Oh yeah, just a little more about the automatic.
The paddles are really nice. They're steering wheel mounted (a minus imo, I wish they were column mounted), and they have a very solid click when you pull them. I just wish there was a little more travel when you pulled them. They almost feel like buttons (similar to the ones in old Benzes) that have been extended. They could also be slightly bigger. In terms of shift speed, it's click-then-bam into the next gear. Rev matches are provided of course, and they sound great. The shift speed is on a whole 'nother level compared to our Steptronics. However, I noticed that the automatic in the C63 is incapable of double-downshifts, something the Step is capable of. This is sort of dissapointing, as the tranny seems to not respond when I click the downshift paddle twice, when in reality I just have to space out my inputs by just a little more. That doesn't mean that the auto has a lag feel to it. It still shifts like a demon. All I can say is test drive the thing. It's so intoxicating. I don't think I'd ever have second thoughts about wanting a manual in the car (which it doesn't come with anyways. And yes, I've had second thoughts about a stick in my car).

It's really a hard choice between the M3 and this. In all honesty, I was so in favor of the M3 over this car prior to my driving of both of them, but now that I've experienced the two, I think I know which one I'd end up going with. You see, I don't have an Auto-X track anywhere near me to enjoy the M3's precise handling and balance. That's the problem, the streets aren't where the M3 shines. I didn't get that sensational feeling in the M3 that I got from driving the C63. Then again, it wasn't like driving an altogether new car like the C, which might count for something. I'm surprised to see what 450 some-odd horsepower did to my judgement...
