Is the whole point of the website post count to you people? I thought the point of this website was to share intelligence, technical info, data, pictures, etc. I don't understand why the number to the left of people's posts are so important that you have to pollute what was 5-6 pages of good information with this garbage. Get rid of the numbers, I don't care. I'm going to answer people's questions, picture requests, etc the same way. If I don't think of every thought in a single post and want to add another thought afterwards, then so be it. If I went to spread some thoughts out over a few posts, so people can respond to certain things but not others, and to organize thoughts, so be it..

Ignore list expanded. Let's get this thread back in the right direction now..

Josh I think they were playing with you at least I think.
But still because of that my reply (asking for valid info) got lost in between silly replies about post count so my post got ignored.

My opinion, I don't think people should harp on (either playing or not) posters that provide good info, especially when they take their valuable time in posting pictures for all of us to see.

Sorry your post was lost in this mess. I will take some pictures today after work. Josh

Briefly though, I think the colors are much better now. There is much more contrast between what is road and what is not road. It is much easier to see. There are differences in highways etc, the pictures I took, I wasn't really close to any, so it wasn't obvious. I'll take pictures near highways today so you can see the difference between side streets, major roads, highways, etc.

Hey Josh, forgive my ignorance, but since this thread was kind of hijacked a while back, I think I missed soemthing. Is v26 any different from v25? In other words, what did v26 add or improve on? Thanks, J

From comparing versions, and a quote by Placey (BMW technician), v26 does not add anything in North America compared to the latest version of 25..

Okay. Got your pictures. First from the top.

Note, this is at a large parking lot near the intersection of two highways for you. it looks a drop weird because the parking lot is not connected to the roads, but the pictures should give you what you're looking for. Direction of travel, all the way in, stepped out..

Josh, Thanks for posting photos.
By looking at your photos and reading your post I don't see much difference with my v25.2.2. Do you know any specific for upgrade from 25 to 26?

No problem..

Yep, As mentioned before, the last version and version 26 do not have any changes in NA. Version 26 just happened to be what was installed on my car. Upgraded from Ancient.0.1 (March 2006 build/delivery).

Very happy with the upgrade still to date. No problems whatsoever (knock on wood)..

None where, but the NAV worked great..
See I always forget I have the technology to do stuff like that. I've honestly never used my Navi except to watch my little triangle move around on the streets. Its so cool what we can do with our cars... Thanks again for the pictures. Keep them coming- even if you've exceeded your valuable information limit. I'll share some of mine with you.

Thanks Alpine..

I agree with you 100%. Go on a vacation, move to a new town, look for a new place, you will be using your navigation constantly. I would never buy a car without NAV now. It's a huge weight off your shoulders, to be able to go try a new restaurant, go to to a new place, etc without having to worry about getting lost. And then you when your fuel alarm hits, it's not hard to find a good gas station to fill up at. I'm really happy with Navigation, and being new to Boston, I couldn't imagine how many hours I would have spent lost in the past year... It gives you a lot more confidence to go out and explore new places, and be much more spontaneous..

Two thumbs up -

Thanks Josh, just what I was looking for.

When you search a POI and then set guidance to begin, does it outline a specific color of your route so you know where it is on the map and also does it tell you on the map how many miles to your dest and how many mins or hrs it will take before you reach your dest. I guess Perspec is good if your on major highways with no local roads, right?

The Nav map looks quite diff than my friends IS350 do they use diff type maps or is it just the graphics are better on my friends?

Thanks again.

Yes, it shows the route you are on, and the entire route highlighted in white. I can take a picture to show this. Perspective is the best way to drive around IMO. You look at the road exactly at it on the screen as you are looking at it in the real world. Even at rotaries, etc, it is very easy to see which turn is the wrong one to be on, and which one is the right one to be on. You can have the screen on the right set to arrow display. It will let you know the distance to the next turn or operation, and which way you're going at that operation. It counts down nicely. Simultaneously, nav will also alert you when you are getting close to a turn. Then, when it is the next right or left, it will say, take the next right. Between the countdown on the side of the screen, the highlighted picture showing you which road you are turning on, giant arrows, and the voice telling you to take the next turn, it's pretty intuitive what to do.

When you have a destination set in, the status bar on the screen will show you the total distance, and the estimated time of arrival.

Hope this answers some of your questions..

Tuner needle drop-shadow, MP3 continuous playback

I don't think I have v26 - I think it's v25.x - but a couple of things I noticed:

- the tuner needle in the AM/FM view has a drop shadow behind it. Was this in prior versions?

- I could swear that MP3 playback is now continuous. I don't recall this being the case with the version of iDrive I had before (Dec '06 build). Can anybody confirm this as well?

EDIT: MP3 playback isn't seamlessly-continuous, but the gap between tracks does seem smaller than before

The POI icons are dependent on what version of nav DVD you have, not the i-drive version.
I think the 'criss-crossed' restaurant icons was used in 2005 or 2006 Nav DVD. As of 2007 (or even 2006), the icons have a little bit of shadow so that it looks like it's standing up especially when the map is in perspective mode.

Thanks for the all the pics and info Josh. I am gonna try and get an update tomorrow, along with an oil change.

I also don't get why people must get jealous over post counts...it's not like you get a prize for getting to certain numbers. Sorry, I read the entire thread just now and got annoyed by those 2 or 3 guys who said those stupid things.
