Serious question. Is e90vader a kid? Like 16 years old or so? I read his posts in the voice/mannerisms of a child.

I don't think the game is over when stage 2 comes out... but ATR should > the other offerings in terms of setting up your car perfectly for your mods

Noob questions

Hi there
I own a 335i (2007) and the only mods I've done to the car is the Hartge suspensions and coils front/rear, which lowered the car at abt 2cm.

I'm really interested in buying a Cobb tuning for my BMW but there are some things I'd like to ask first.

First of all and since I've had (3) HPFP until now, I wanted to ask if the tuning will push the pump more that it can now sustains resulting in more failures.
I must clarify that I'm not a Horsepower junkie and so 350 HP is enough for my rides. So regarding this, what further mods is really necessary in order my car to breathe, consume and feel right (drivability), if I install Cobb.
Another thing I have to ask is since I'm in a country with high temperatures especially in summer time (40c) is the installment of an additional oil cooler necessary (with or without the Cobb), an improved intercooler or a additional (BMW Performance) one needed or suggested ?.

Any additional suggestions are highly welcomed cause I'm really in deep water regarding engine tuning.

Thanks.

All the aftermarket bolt-ons provide the same gains. You're kidding yourself if you believe your mods are superior to another.

Please chill out. Stop regurgitating marketing material, creating flame threads, complaining, the constant hyperboles, overpaying, and producing constant videos of how loud/slow/fast your car is. The speed at which you've modified your car, I'm afraid to pop-in and find a thread about how you blew your engine, or yourself into a ditch. I know its your car, your money, and you have made some positive contributions, but I'm sure I'm not the only person on the forum who feels this way. Slow down the mods, figure out what they do and how they do it, stagger the installs apart and figure out how they alter the behaviour of the car.

Sorry for yanking the thread off-topic.... </rant>

@COBB - I'm excited for Stage 2, bring her in!

I read most of the pages in this thread & just wanted to clarify some things as I ordered my Cobb AP today for my E90 '07 335xi w/auto trans.

--Am I going to have to upgrade the firmware or should the latest be on the AP already? if I have to download myself, does t automatically download the most current for you or must you select from a list?
--On the "calibrations" tab on the Cobb site it lists several ECU types. Does the AP tell you on screen which type your car is when plugged in? If not, which type is correct for my vehicle?
--I've read too many posts about what map to run with 50 different results for each map. What is the latest Stage 1 93 octane map for my car & how is is fairing for most users? Also, is it Beta or final?
--What are the differences between the 3 map types below? I don't want the car feeling like stock at everything other than WOT if possible.
Standard Throttle Mapping
Alternate Throttle Mapping - Version 1 (linear response)
Alternate Throttle Mapping - Version 2 (linear response, more aggressive onset)

Feel free to add anything else you think I should know.

-- Update it just in case, Once installed you launch the program plug the usb to the cobb and click update. very easy.
-- The cobb will tell you what ecu you have and you can download the maps accordingly.
-- Latest versions are kept on the site
-- Start with the standard map. if you feel you want less response from the throttle try the v1 Map
-- When installing I like to turn off anything that does not need to be on, or unplug any chargers, lights, ect. you want the car to have a good charge before flashing it.
-- Give your car a few hundred miles to adjust before you try new maps.
-- Enjoy!

Few hundred miles?! Since when?

"standard" map? Is it labeled "standard"?

Sorry im a bit confused here. I just ordered my COBB AP yesterday, so ive been trying to read up on it as much as possible lately. Might be a dumb question but, once i download the latest firmware onto the AP when i get it. Would it be "bad" to jump straight to the 93 octane V2.02 map right away? Or should i start first with the 91 to see how it feels. My car currently has 93 octane in it now.

Thanks.

thats up to preference. Just download them all and try one each for a couple of days. Only taks 90seconds to switch maps. took me only 2 days to know immediately which one i prefered.

I guess ur right. I will most likely do that. I was just under the impression that the 93 v2.02 would giving the car the most performance and thats why i was curious as to why not everyone would be running it.

Thanks again man.

I just tried to install my Cobb but I got the unrecognized ROM response. I successfully dumped the ROM to my AP and emailed it to ROM@Cobbtuning.com. How long does it usually take to get it supported. More importantly, how do I know when it is "released". Do I get any notification, email, etc, or do I just keep checking for updates? Thanks.

Cobb's pretty good about adding your ROM to their database. I've see other users on this forum get support for their ROM within a week or so after notifying Cobb. YMMV.
