coincidence? I think not. Pete is obviously contacting AA through some sort of code. AA get out your computers, you have some codes to write.

Ha. I hate that phone when it gets goofy like that. Haven't heard from them but I imagine they're kinda busy.

The peak horsepower is down but you'd never know it and that's with zero adaptation other than the little bit seen on the dyno. It clearly pulls harder at lower revs, that was obvious leaving the dealership stomping on it in second. Snapped me back in the seat, never did that before. But it's all subjective so take it with a grain of salt. Like I said earlier the torque numbers are up a bit below five grand, I didn't go into any detail with it, just compared some rpm datapoints between the before plot and the number charts. We'll know more next Monday. Barometric pressure went up from 29.73in to about 30.08 or higher between before and after runs. The dyno is completely indoors so the temps didn't change but the dyno corrected them all to 77F at 0%RH making it relatively easy to normalize via density altitude or whatever, I guess. Whatever. Not disappointed. At least improved cams are in the car and we'll see how far adaptation can take them. Then we'll have to see about a custom tune. The shop can't do it as it turns out unless it's with a MoTeC ECU. Bummer. Andrew, we need ya buddy.... ![]()

Oh yeah, went back to the race team end of the shop to hear the new EP car and meet their driver, the car chief wanted me to hear what the new exhaust would sound like. The EP car has the same exhaust, wrapped headers, etc. but the headers were open with the collector and midpipe dropped. Sounds great. My neighbor would shoot me, the cops would arrest me, but I'm thinking it'd be worth it. Definitely going to have a second Coast Fab muffler in line I think. But it sure sounded nice. Loud but nice.

Also forgot to mention the car would die while idling on the dyno, kinda funny really. Got some lope in the exhaust note now. It quit doing it after a while which is promising. Didn't have any problems with it going home.

AFter reviewing the pages of data, I don't think so. I've arranged for more runs tomorrow morning. It's a sixty mile round trip to the shop so should see something anyway. If not or if not much, definitely a tune's in order.

Dunno about torque, pk hp was down. New dynos tomorrow morning with complete numerical data. And the dyno'dyno's been updated I'm told. Whatever.

Don't expect miracles tho. Seems fine, nothing to complain about.

Hell, I was happy we aren't pulling the engine to pick pieces of valves out of the piston faces...

This sounds like a Disa manifold with no tune. Peak is down. Torque up in low range and maybe even Hp gain
Glad this has worked out so far

aside from the cam parameters, you would also likely want to alter the VANOS maps as the opening & closing timing of the valves will be a little different. |

so how could AA do this without having his car in house...over email w/ dyno sheets? If they will even do this sort of thing.

You need to do some type of data logging, but I imagine, the cams probably need to be retarded a bit more at high rpm...the cams may have even needed to be installed off a few degrees to compensate. Who knows.
I want miracles too, but sometimes you have to make your own. We'll see how this plays out, and go from there. |
