Not exactly a cakewalk. We've spent more than a few hours working on a design we are happy with, and that actually fits.

That's because the Subaru engine bay has so much room for a larger snail. So do Evos. The 335 engine bay on the other hand is fairly cramped and not well designed for swapping to a giant turbo. Also, Subarus and Evos have easily upgradeable fuel systems. If you need to feed a turbo the size of a dinner plate, all you need is a Walboro fuel pump, some larger injectors and a flash tune to manage it. AFAIK no one makes aftermarket fuel pumps or injectors for the 335 yet, so useful modifications are likely limited to what the stock fuel system can handle. This in turn will limit the total amount of airflow the engine will be able to handle.

Basically anyone looking to swap on a GT30/35 turbo better figure out how to fuel it and put it under the stock hood first, otherwise its a DOA project.

Any hint on what turbo your looking at?

If the mani is anything like the TT mani you showed me, I'm sure it will be impressive.

What I think most don't understand is that a turbo kit for the 335i would not be nearly as cheap as say for an EVO. With the space constraints and fuel constraints I bet a Quality kit would come in over 7K.

This is why we want to see what the bolt on guys can do. For instance if we can get bolt on turbos to make close to 600whp with some fuel upgrades that is great and maybe a single kit would not be necessary. We have to weigh all options. We would love to invest the money in a big single kit but if it comes in at 8k and nobody buys them it will be HUGE waste of our time and money.

IF you can get bolt on twins to make 600 whp i think thats much better idea if it would be a lot cheaper, if you can solve the fuel issue thats the main concern, that car will never make 600 on stock fuel obviously lol but I hope there will be a fuel system upgrade made avaliable.

1/ EDIT: so it seems that either AMS or ARS made a CUSTOM manifold to fit the (soon coming) AMS larger bolt on turbos !!
...that sound absolutely delicious

2/ as for fueling - unless AMS somehow can boost more fuel delivery - which i guess will be very difficult and $$$, i am certain that most people will be willing to add methanol injection (if they do not already have it).
i also could guess that you can put in turbos that could work with our current fuel limitations BUT could also handle more fuel when the inevitable fueling upgrades come in the foreseeable future correct ??

3/my major concern is how are these babies gonna be tuned.
... problem is that 1/2 of us guys run proceede, and the other 1/2 run JB3.
i think you should be fair and offer either a flash option, OR at least have both terry and shiv work to tune your upgrade.

4/ are you still planning on your bolt on turbos (with maifold) being able to be compatible with all the damn modifications most of us already have like DPS, etc??

5/lastly, got a rough eta on when your upgrade is ready to be installed??
... it seems a (very) few turbo upgrades are going to come out quite soon, but some of us are soooo tired of waiting.

my 2 cents,
thanks

The suspension set up, brakes, axles etc... would need a definite overhaul with 600whp. I'll be happy with 450 on pump and 500 on race gas.

Eric, I wasn't intending to barge into/take attention from your thread here - my apologies.

Looks like you have a nice setup in the works, excited to see what you guys come up with, always impressed with your products!

NO custom manifold is necessary. these are bolt on using the existing housing/manifold.

CP-E has a HPFP that we sent them. The are exploring ways to increase fuel pressure and volume. We will keep you posted.

Right now we have been tuning the car using the CP-E standback and its working great. We would not be opposed to Shiv or Terry creating their own map for these though.

These turbo's will bolt up to everything you currently have, that is what FP was shooting for and I have not heard anything to the contrary.

unfortunately I am waiting on FP. They are very busy so I am sure they want to get them out as fast as we do. As soon as we get testing done i will let you know asap!

Eric, I talked to FP. I believe their shipment is in.
I think you might of been misinformed or misunderstood. Just talked to FP and they have units ready to upgrade but they are still waiting on parts to arrive to actually build the turbo's

The second I know anything guys I will post here for you. We are eager to test on our car as well as we know its going to be a solid product. The guys at FP know their stuff.

Very interested in how this plays out! Thanks for the updates Eric. I'm subscribed to the AMS Facebook page too... are you posting update there?

If you need any test mules, keep me in mind. I've just past my 50K warranty so what the Hell!! wb

Sorry for the lack of updates...the reason for that is there really have not been any. We are patiently waiting for FP to get us some samples so we can toss these guys on and see what they are made of. There is a decent chance we are a mere couple weeks away now
