Is anyone aware of a design incorporating sequential dual turbos where a small turbo boosts the low rpm range and a larger turbo takes over at higher revs to redline when the exhaust velocity is really high? Just a thought...I'm not an engineer and I had a few drinks tonight.

THIS WAS ALSO QUOTED FROM N54 TECH.COM

Quote:
Coming from the boys at HPF:
"I still have this in the design process, but you can expect it to be cast aluminum and plumbed for additional port injection as well as alcohol injection."
-See plenum design below

Also here is the game plan

Stage 1: Is a Tune and a few other Highly Crafted add-ons like Intercooler and intake Manifold.

Stage2: Will be a Single Turbo (Planed T67 ) with just about the exact set up as the HPF E46 M3. Everything from gages ,Meth, and of course a major improvement on the fuel system. Going to Be Sick!

Stage3: Will be fully Built and reinforced Motor, Fuel system… and oh yeah…A lot more Boost!

And talking to Dave this morning from HPF I also got this info:

"The intercooler and Intake Manifold are done so far, next will be using our electronics to tune the stock twins with our parts, once that is done we will build a single turbo manifold and do that for stage 2"

Sounds like big HP is on its way for the N54 community!

In the flesh! Things are moving along nicely for HPF. Can't wait to see what they come up with. Hopefully my AT can handle it, though that's kind of a stretch

I hope the DCT tranny is able to hold up to that extra torque!

Not to revive the ancient AT vs MT arguments, but....i'm glad i got a manual. However i'm sure they'll do something about the AT since there are HPF E46 SMG's out there. Well i hope they will.

I just got the green light from the wifey to get this so i'm frakin stoked. Stage 2 or 3 for me.

What places do these installs besides their main facility in Oregon?

How does one get their wife to agree to a $20,000 mod on a $30,000 car?

Did you catch her cheating?

Heh, I've already got this one planned: I'm going to drive cross country to have HPF install (whatever kit my AT can handle) in my car. While I'm on the west coast I'm going to head down to HPA to do an M3 suspension transplant.

Yeah, I'm planning on keeping this car for a while...

RE: the transmission

The SMG used a regular 'ol clutch (I think) which made it fairly compliant with power upgrades. The AT in current e9x has a torque converter lock up feature but I don't think the clutch pack is upgradeable (hope I'm wrong). I know a transmission cooler would probably help a bit but I'm not holding out much hope.

I'm not really looking for bragging rights anyways. I'm looking for a very streetable very reliable 450-500whp. I can get in plenty trouble with that sort of power.

LOL no, i don't really buy much for myself anymore and it'll be my present when I get promoted to 1LT. I have no bills, so it won't be an issue thankfully.

Sounds like I should join the Army. That is a more attractive advertising model vs the one they got. "Free HPF stage 4 upon every E1 recruit!"

maybe, maybe not.

I'm thankful to be in a position where i make far more than i need, plus she's about to graduate from dental school.

Anyways, this is still a year away from being reality so there's time for a lot of people to save up some cash.

Quick question?

Will the HPF 335i's end up being quicker than the 1,000+hp HPF e46 M3's?

Wouldn't it be more beneficial getting the HPF kit on the lighter and better handling E46 M3?

Basically they're somewhat of a match stock vs stock. I highly doubt a 335 will ever have a higher ceiling than an E46 M3 when it comes to extreme power. The S54 is a rock.
