The miles-till-refill number is still displayed on the dash. So I'm not sure of any utility lost with this implementation. Plus, you will soon be able to toggle between different display modes whle driving. So no need to stay married to any one particular display option.

Very innovative, but I think I would rather have a boost gauge readout than think to myself, "the needle is moving X amount, what is the designated psi reading." Very clever though.

Please tell me this means we'll have an option to see a digital boost display ?!?!

What would really be impressive is if you could add a cycle on the center display (with mpg, miles to empty tank, instantaneous mpg) and have a gauge reading boost. I think that would be a lot less distracting than trying to calculate boost by a little needle.

shiv@vishnu, what you have posted is the most imaginative approach to data display in a car. I understand that you are focused on the N54 running your tune chip, but your approach would be also very useful in the N52 driven cars. No turbo, but the 328(x)i and 330(x)i have a completely useless gauge displaying fuel consumption rate - you could sell software upgrade that would make this gauge display something useful, such as the engine oil temperature.

The question is, what is the canbus limited too?
So many great features through the use of the canbus network.

it would be a bit cost prohibitive since the precede is performing this function by intercepting data on the data bus...

Seriously! If you can't tell after a few times the needle at mid point for example is 10 PSI, and you need to actually READ the number 10 to figure it out, then yes, I'd say it's not for you.

So like, do you constantly read the actual number for your speed every time you glance down? Or your tach?

I do, it's the difference between a speeding ticket and not getting a speeding ticket. I just prefer to have a reading that is a little bigger if you really want to know what your PSI is at a certain point in time, lol.

I saw the video without reading and was expecting the gauge to be in the temperature area like before. I was like wtf is he talking about? nothing's moving. then saw the gas gauge going crazy and a big smile appeared on my face.
