We will have "off road maps" that will have the cat inefficiency codes turned off.

Quote:
so i'm assuming, at minimum, stage 2 will require a catted TBE !?!?
There will be two stage 2 map flavors. Stage 2 which will have a little more power than stage 1 and the downpipe CEL removal requiring a TBE (Turbo Back Exhaust). Stage 2 + FMIC will require a TBE and FMIC with a heavy suggestion on a good intake. The Stage 2 + FMIC is what I have been working on above.

***Keep in mind everyone, the power numbers are not yet set. This is only what I have been running. They could go up or down.

Cheers,
Rob

Rob, what are the chances those intake "suggestions" will point to the OEM intake replacement kit that another manufacturer currently offers? It's the one you and I had discussed briefly over E-mail a couple months back.

BTW, I broke down and bought it, but have good faith that your manufacturers can whip up something better, especially for that kind of money.

Litos,

You've already said in about /500/ posts that you are not going to TBE. So how will the realease of any future COBB maps affect you?

Relax...
I'll play the devil's advocate here and explain what I think Litos meant.

Maybe I don't unerstand the market, but why did COBB decide to split stage two default maps between TBE and TBE FMIC? Seriously, how many people are going to be TBE without a FMIC?

Meanwhile I thought there are/were more of us with plans of running a lower power but more stealthy variant of stage 2 (1.5) with maybe FMIC Intake. Those people are SOL to realize more gains until ATR/ATP comes out.

Maybe there just wasn't enough gains over stage 1 to justify OOTB development.

chill guys. many thanks to Cobb for sharing some of their development info with us! i know a lot of us have been waiting for some kind of news and this is awesome that they have finally shown up with some. i'm glad we aren't in the dark anymore. i hope they keep us updated as development continues. a "few more weeks" until stage 2!

i still think there is room for improvement via ProTune with just ETS FMIC and DCI.

the minimal gains from a $1200 TBE is not worth losing my CPO warranty for.

i'd rather safely squeeze out a few hp/tq with a near perfect A/F from the stock exhaust.

i'll safely keep my warranty for another 2 years without worries.

Am I the only one that will be trying stage 2 or 2+ with FBO but no full exhaust? I've always thought the cattless downpipes were the important part, and the rest of the exhaust was mainly just for sound/cosmetics...

If I ever experiment with a Cobb AP, I will also be running the stock exhaust

catless DPs, FMIC, DCI for bolt-ons. Everything else is stock.

In all seriousness, if I can squeeze out 400-410 whp on 93 pump with a Cobb AP, goodbye meth kit. they're a pain in the ass sometimes.

I just received my AP yesterday (highly recommend Jeff@topgearsolutions BTW). I'm going to install it this afternoon and have a question about the maps. I downloaded the AP Manager and updated the firmware on the AP but haven't plugged the AP into the car yet. This may be a silly question, but is it ready to go now or do I need to download something else from the map database on the Cobb site? I'm a little unclear about the difference between what gets downloaded when I update the AP Manager and what is in the map database. Sorry for the newbie question!

Anyone else with a manual tranny have severe clutch slippage when they got into boost with the Cobb AP? Without the AP installed i have no clutch issue but with it installed as soon as boost hits full my RPMs jump with little go. It eventually catches but i know its not good. Any one else experience this??

Its always best to just download the latest onto the cobb and install the map for your octane requirements. Just plug it and have a go!

Thanks for your order!

Because your clutch is worn bro and needs to be replaced. It will do it with any tune that makes more power, not just the AP

Your clutch needs replacement. Its not the tune.

Correct any tune has more torque and therefore more power against the clutch. If its not holding stage 1 power its the clutch.

If he had 500WHP then he would need an upgraded clutch
