Got her smogged the other day no problem. The guy said EVAP not ready isn't a problem as long as all other monitors are complete. He did notice the upgraded FMIC and tuner cable in the door next to the OBD port and my E30 sticker on the gas cap door. LOL He's like your running an E30 tune? I said stock tune right now and he chuckled but said all good thank you very much. Put the goodies back on, some E85 and the E30 tune and shes breathing fire again.

The one monitor that does not have to be ready is the evap.
If you have less than 1/2 tank (I think) evap might not ever go ready.
Calif allows that monitor be be not ready as long as the check engine light is not lit.

Just had my car done.
Engine is mostly stock and I remove my tune before I go in.

I concur. I passed smog in Dec with evap not ready, but no codes set.

I run a COBB and I remove the tune, but all monitors will be ready even with the tune.
I just remove it to be safe.

Looks like my go to Smog shop can't pass me this time. He said that they updated the system and it could be possible for some cars to get flagged, where they need to go see a referee at a community college to get inspected and unflagged for a retest. Guess I'll be taking off my DP and flashing back to stock. The report said that I need a STAR and Referee Certification. Smh.

Here's a fun one. 1977 Beetle. Paid almost $500 for a rebuilt EGR. Took weeks. Guy has to run me on the dyno and tried 3 times but can't get to 30mph and the test fails

He's getting me a new/rebuilt cat and then I probably have to go see a referee

Also looking for a shop that may be friendly with the visual in the norcal area. Monitors are all showing ready and DP is "stock", I'm just worried I'll fail for a CP, FMIC, ect.

100% most, if not all smog techs know all BMW's are supposed to have mufflers so they'll fail your visual

no a muffler delete will not fail you smog. as long as its a catback and doesn't hamper with the cats, they can't fail you. Matter of fact they don't even need to turn your car on, everything is done via obd2.

Anyone passed smog lately on a tuned car? I'm hearing something about new regs about tuned cars will fail even if all monitors are good? Any confirmation on this or any new Cali smog rules
