Just sounds like an open/freeflowing catless exhaust with the open wastegate bit7/fud98 setting
Edit: on second listen, it sounds ridiculous. I want it to sounds like an amg or ftype, not like my car is broken and belching |

Just means the natural crackles that occur in the N54 aren't muted by being forced through the turbines. The open waste gates allow them into the downpipes freely so they're louder. Pop a vac line off your vac canister and rev the car in the garage and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah would definitely be louder driving it with the WG's open, I've never done that. The only way to keep the car burbling stock is to feather the throttle, he's got to be doing that to keep it going. I don't personally even want it to crackle continuously on decel, just a little 0.3 sec burst would be all that's needed to give it some character.

Well, perhaps both unplugged, I just unplugged one and revved the car in the garage doing some troubleshooting and it was super loud. But your turbos won't make any boost (open WG's).

I guess if you reconnected the lines to each other and excluded the vacuum canisters, but you need vacuum to operate the wastegate actuators... Otherwise they'll default to open (no boost)!

wouldn't that make it spool slower as well if the WG is open all the time. I rather hurt mpg then slow boost build up. Anyways back to topic any weekend updates>? lol

![]() After all that time you've spent in the MHD thread(s) you should know what a flash tune is capable of modifying at this point. As for the "canisters" it sounds like you're assuming they actually create vacuum somehow; that obviously isn't the case. Go back and look at the available diagrams (google is your friend) to help you understand the boost/vacuum architecture in this respective system. |

He's read posts where people have excluded the canisters but connected the rest as it was originally. Basically the solenoids and actuators still receive vacuum but they don't have the reservoirs there to store vacuum pressure. To be honest I'm not sure why they are needed. Because that side of the system is run by a vacuum pump, I would expect that they always have the required vacuum to run the wastegates. The canisters may also be a reason for wastegate rattle during startup as they provide more volume to be evacuated and would slow down the closing of the wastegates, causing rattle. That last part is just speculation though. I haven't tried it.
