Made the call the BMW NA, also visited dealers in NY and PA, nothing. Maybe the NHTSA call did it

I was just looking at their site yesterday to see the process. Just call the main # listed at 888-327-4236? I assumed a voice mail hell from that?

I guess my complaint to BMW NA worked?

BMW NA announced today that Remedy is Available!

That would be both funny and annoying, as I bit the bullet and did the job last Saturday...

(In case anyone cares, no bolts missing or damaged, but all were finger-tight to loose, especially on the exhaust side, with one bolt even a bit backed out.)

FCP has the Vanos bolts listed as in stock. I ordered mine and they show shipped as of today. Will do the job myself as my car still isn't on the recall list and I'm off work for a bit.

My 2011 N51 never made the recall list either. Do you have a N51? Makes me wonder if it's still a potential issue with the car, or if they are just trying to shove it under the SULEV warranty if the bolts back out.

Just the NHTSA site. I didn't know there is a BMW site. But I do have a complimentary Carfax report page... thanks for mentioning that!

Yep, that's where I ordered mine from 2 weeks ago. $0.39 each...

Anyway, I just checked the BMW recall site, my car now also shows "remedy available", seriously... Oh well.

I was able to make my appointment to fix this vanos recall. This was not a quick process.

ANYONE who can Reliably provide the CORRECT part# for the REPLACEMENT Bolts?
Posts #113, #136 & #163 show part# of replacement part as 11-36-8-602-263. Is that correct?
What is material (Steel/Aluminum, etc.) of Old bolts? New Bolts? Either Magnetic?
HOW are the replacement bolts Different from the Originals?
How are Original bolts on recalled vehicles different from those on earlier models NOT subject to recall?
Got the 23V-707 RCRIT yet, or are they using the 2014 RCRIT?
2014 RCRIT said to replace VANOS Unit (~$500 retail) if bolts loose/broken on that Unit. Define "Loose"?

Am I the only one who wonders if either NHTSA or BMW are "Woke" yet?
George

Mine is an N52. I just changed the valve cover gasket a few months ago and will go through the same process again. Better than driving around waiting for the death rattle. With a little Luck my car will show up on the recall list this week and save me the trouble.

Yes the correct Vanos bolt part # is 11-36-8-602-263. The new bolts do not have the center pin in the head, not sure about composition.

What is the size of the security torx bit needed to remove the faulty bolts?

I contacted NHTSA on July 30, 2024 and filed a complaint that BMW was taking too long to resolve the VANOS bolt recall. Great to hear that the remedy is now available. Thanks to everyone who contacted BMW NA and NHTSA to let them know we are still driving these cars and would like this resolved.

My car is finally showing "Remedy Available". I'll be back in Maine in September, hopefully I can get it in for both it's annual state inspection and have this done at the same time.

Mine says "remedy Available" but the local BMW dealer says "parts available = no" when I look online.
I guess I'll call them tomorrow...
