IIRC these were rebuilt stock turbo's right (upgrades)? Still waiting on the single... I don't even mod my car because I want single (GT35R is a good example) and with that will be totally different parts. I could see running an SSTT/JB+ (then sale it) and an FMIC which would be able to stay on, but that is about it performance wise.

regarding your new cpe standback:
if FP cannot get more fuel flow out of our HPFP, anyway the standback can help with more fueling ??

thanks

How can the standback help with the fueling issue if the stock HPFP is maxed out?

Eric,
You say you are patiently waiting to toss on a pair of turbos. Is it really just a "toss on" or does the engine have to removed in order to perform a turbo swap? I have seen pictures on here that look like the manifold and the turbos are one pieces. If so, will these turbos come with a new manifold as well?

Why drop the big turbo setup? Is there really that much lack of space? I mean even twin GT28's would be a much better upgrade IMO, but if you can't even fit that then thats just too bad. Have you considered re-locating some of the miscellaneous BMW crap on the hot side of the engine bay and run a top-mount setup? I really want to make some decent horsepower with this car and don't mind taking a bit of risk while doing it...

Oh, given enough time and money, just about anything is possible. Since this car is more expensive than an Evo/STi AND non-Japanese, the usual suspects (HKS, GReddy, etc.) aren't playing.

That's too bad, since they pump out products REALLY fast.

These little shops just don't have the working capital to do rapid product development.

None of this go-fast engineering is very difficult, but it takes money to back-stop the inevitable screw-ups and fiddling necessary to get a product to market.

Again, we're also not seeing the kind of grass-roots tinkering that happens with cheaper cars/engines.

Taken together, it is a shame because a reliable pump gas 500 WHP is on the table.

I think its more a issue of baby steps at the time. The exhaust manifold is not straight forward to build as it requires special flanges as they recess into the head.
My concern is that if the stock exhaust housing with integrated manifold is used as a starting point, and you have the upgraded internals similar to ASR and you start having the common waistgate issues, where does that leave you?

I really was hoping that HKS was going to jump on the N54 bandwagon when they released their exhaust. Sad that those big JDM tuners don't, they would make a killing! Didn't Greddy go bankrupt?

With that said hopefully the FP turbos don't make the power that AMS wants and in turn AMS gets a nice single turbo project going. We can only wish.

Hopefully the wastegate issue is addressed. But even if you went to an aftermarket wastegate (vacuum controlled) how would you control it?

exactly. all the piggies have already maxed out the capabilities of the stock fuel system. The DI fuel system has to be upgraded.

I think the initially everyone will go for a integral wastegate design. I dont think control is a issue as the voltage frequency can be controlled to regulate boost regardless. The VW guys had something similar with N75 valve that controlled the boost. Here is a pic of a electronically modified one.

I keep hearing that an M5 fuel pump would work. That, of course, until the injectors get maxed out.

Rumours are going around that the next generation M3 will have a 6 cyl turbo producing 450 HP........ guess BMW has some turbolove left to play with
