I think the most common though is seeing some base mustang with a Shelby Snake on it. OR the guy I saw with a Bentley logo on his chrysley 300 hahaha. Seen a few Fake M's in my area as well, even one on an X3 smh..

Some people are superficial, some people are genuine, some people can't tell the difference, and some just don't give a damn.
This guy is hilarious... Last edited by CM3LLO; 07-08-2014 at 02:02 PM.. |

The funny thing is that the ONLY people this would impress are the very ones who can tell that it's a fake. For example, my 9 year old son is a gear head and he points out pretty much EVERY fake /M, AMG, F, etc. badge. It's getting a bit tougher as every manufacturer is trying to cash in with the special edition car with the upgraded badge, but he knows where such badges belong and where they are placed only for the "real thing". He laughs and points at the vehicle, often with the driver noticing and trying to do their best invisibility impersonation.
My wife on the other hand doesn't even notice the "real" cars. Even when they are pointed out to her she doesn't realize the difference between an S65 AMG and a Corolla. She is fooled by the badges, yet couldn't care less about the badge because she doesn't even "know" to be "impressed". I had a great set of frantic looks in the rear view mirror of the car ahead of me last week. He was in his 325i "M3" in front of my in my e90 M and from the look of his face in the rear view, he was fully aware that I knew he had a fake badge job. All I could do was shake my head and smile. |

Yes, there is an X6 M. What I find funny are the Merc drivers who like the AMG version of their SUV, then paste the AMG badge after their own-ie. ML350 AMG. Unless I'm mistaken EVERY real AMG uses a two digit designation (at least most do) and there is NO "ML350 AMG". Even with the AMG packages, the badges go on the wheels, etc., but never on the deck lid-much like BMW.

This is true. I even met a pharm rep about a year back who had owned a "fake" C250 AMG. Unfortunately he purchased it private seller and paid the premium for the "premium model". He hadn't realized until years after trading it in that it was fake-when we were having a discussion about this very topic (ironically, he brought it up) and I mentioned seeing a "fake C180 AMG last week"-his jaw almost hit the floor when he asked how I knew and I told him that there is no such thing.

This is the Mercury Villager M33 special edition with BMW badgery and grills from pep boys imports division. Notice the license plate which surely stands for awkward when a BMW is behind this yahoo.

This one deserves an M3 badge! 1000+hp Modified Honda Odyssey. The expose intercooler was specially interesting. (images from History channel's Top Gear USA)

At least you know the kids will get to soccer practice on time hauling them around in that van.

I'd much rather have the Juke-R. It looks like a Juke, but has the GT-R drivetrain, chassis and engine so it can actually use the ludicrous amount of power. Unfortunately as far as I know there are not many around and most are spoken for by middle east royalty. |
