The lower trim is okay. Add the sticker, and the badge though?

I wasn't in my M3 today, but I feel sort of bad for these cars when I have to drive next to them. I try not to look.

Wow. That one is epic. However I will say here in SoCal you will be surprised how many men plaster M badges on their base X5s and X6s, it is shocking. When they have the window down I?m always like come on man thats not an M, there is no need to pose. 9 our of 10 times they always try to argue with me that it is. Once in a while a guy will go -
yeah your right but my other car is so its a pride thing.

Pride. One of my biggest peeves. The thing about pride is that it's mostly a reaction from a sense of deep insecurity if you think about it. Someone who is truly confident doesn't need to flash their pride around for everyone to see. It's enough for them to know it in themselves, they don't to seek other's approval or acknowledgment. The guy you talked to wasn't proud. He was insecure.

The tragic part is that the 335i I posted is a perfectly fine car. It has the M Sport Package, well maintained... I might have admired it had it not been for the "pride" stroking M badge and M stripe.

Yeah. I get your point. I dont like the Car Badge pride things. I am okay with the M performance rocker and M sticker strips if done tastefully on an M Sport car. But the moment you add the badge to series name or replace it altogether I draw a line

Two in one day... sorry about the image quality of the X5, there is an M badge at the bottom of the right break lights.

I have an X3 M Sport that my fiancee drives and is my winter car. It has the M badge on the running boards and the steering wheel. Doesn't really bother me, considering my other car is an M4. Her car is also plenty quick with the 35i engine in it.

Having said that, there are a lot of M badges plastered on misc. BMW cars around Chicago. I find it very annoying. We would never put an M badge on the X3 beyond what came from the factory.

Saw this at the Rams game tonight. 640i.

It?s a sick car in its own right, especially with the individual frozen color. Why ruin it with a fake M grille... [IMG][/IMG]

Yeah, some people like it. I've been asked by my non-BMW driving friends why I haven't done it. Answer: because hell hasn't frozen over yet.

I think it looks good when done properly - as in painted (no stickers!)

I have them on my MG M3 and think it looks great!
(don't ask about the vinyl stripe... that is to cover up a huge scratch from when some UCLA a**hat egged my car)

Everyone knows MG looks good with everything, so that's a bit of an unfair example.

Picture is TERRIBLE hahahaha but this dude.... had the M badge on the rear without the 4, quad exhaust, rear bumper, M stripes on the grill and windows, M license plate holder. Non M mirrors.... without the M crap everywhere this car would have been fine. I know he noticed me as I drove past him shaking my head. Tool.....

Sure it's a little M flamboyant....but he's not re-badging his 335 or pretending to be an M3 either.

Honestly, if anything blame BMW for milking the M. First we had the M sport package, now we have M logo's everywhere on factory cars (Door sills, steering wheels, wheels, etc. M240/235, M550i, and the new X3 M40 coming as well.

The M logo should be reserved for true M cars only, but that's just my opinion I'm not BMW.

... But being that they are even coming from the factory now with M badges, it's only normal that we are seeing more and more non M cars with them on the road.

I don't really care so long as the car isn't trying to be something it's not. (328/528 with an M3/M5 badge, etc). Just rocking the M logo....well...again...they're becoming common place on non M cars even from the manufacturer.

It's actually pretty confusing. Some people even buy their BMW's thinking they are //M's because they bought the M sport package lol. This is again why I stress the M logo should have never been extended beyond true M cars. Sport appearance package/ etc would have been more fitting. Same thing with the M240/235/M550/X3M40. While they have a little more guts beyond just a cosmetic package, still not an M car.

You know what I respect more than anything? Owners who debadge their M cars. That's the ultimate FU to badge whores. They don't need the badge, they know what they've got.

how does one differentiate a fake badge from the one BMW puts on? cause I feel like alot of BMWs these days have 'm' package even if it is not the 'M' model..

Fake to me is a base model with 'm' attached. But is a base model with 'm' package 'fake'?

I don't believe those that have the M package have the actual M on the rear trunk. Instead, they may have the M plate on the front door sill.
