Nice install on the camera guys, its the little details such as these in conjunction with the NBT which really modernise the car to from 2006 to 2016!

Mod 70 - M3 front and rear sway bars
First of all big thanks to Vince who put me onto these sway bars on ebay from the UK for $230 a piece and then helped with the install, while I held fetched tools and stuff lol ![]() Installing the rear was a real PINTA, getting the stock sway bar out was easy, but getting the M3 sway bar in was a bitch. We eventually had to drop the whole rear end (including the exhaust) to get enough room to maneuver it into place. Was really surprised at the difference between the stock and M3 rear sway bars. Stock is kinda puny in comparison (see pic below) Front was pretty quick and simple. Vince had it out and the new one installed while Trev and I watched on. The difference between the two front bars is not a obvious except for the brackets and the thinned out central section on the stock bar.... If you can find a set of these I say get them. The rear end is much stiffer (as I said to Vince it feels like a car is clenching its butt cheeks its so tight) There is hardly any body roll at all. Trade off is you feel the bumps in the road more because the stiffness.... Looking forward trying these out on the twisties in Tassie ![]() Once again thanks Vince and an extra big thanks to Trev for hanging out and keeping an eye on everything ![]() Pics below Pic 1 - M3 sway bars Pic 2 - Ready for install Pic 3 - Someone had used washers after stripping threads on bracing bolts Pic 4 - Stock vs M3 rear sway bar Pic 5 - Gap needed to get rear sway bar into position Pics 6 & 7 - Vince removing the front sway bar Pic 8 - Stock vs M3 front sway bar Pic 9 - Front bar in position Pic 10 - Done Last edited by Socket; 09-13-2016 at 10:03 AM.. |

Ended up being a bitch getting that sway bar in but just needed to know the correct trick in getting it hooked in lol. Probably easier to remove the suspension link next time. Will be awesome at the next track day, your car is very well rounded now with suspension and power. Thanks for the pizza mate!
Bloody active motorerke! I removed all the washers and replaced a mismatched bolt last time I dropped your subframe so it was all perfect and torqued up correctly. This time they've done it again but two stripped the threads in the cars body for the V brace ffs. Bloody terrible work! Ps love the captions Last edited by vtl; 09-13-2016 at 06:35 PM.. |

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/M8x1-25x1...8AAOSwV0RXtUZf Last time they were done up so tight I heard a nasty cracking noise when they broke loose. This time they were super loose as the bonehead who damaged it broke a few screws and didn't want to do any more damage. Threads were knackered on a few of the bolts. Putting spacers on the V brace is what a lot of people do to clear fat exhausts. In this case it looked fairly close but wasn't rattling. Its a super dodgy fix because the bolts aren't long (only 18mm) and stacking a ton of washers means theres not much thread engagement, not to mention the vbrace has less surface contact with the body and is therefore less strong. Leave it to the 'professionals' to work on your car and this is what you get ![]()
