Any reason you didn't go with the Special Actives?
Just after doing research the Koni yellows seemed to be the best of both worlds.

I attempted to torque at ride height, however my torque wrench is an 18in and I couldnt properly torque it due to only have jack stands and minimal room.
Theres no need to torque at ride height if you have the m3 arms in since they dont have rubber bushings like the non M

I've had my B12 prokit for last 30k miles or so. I like them, they ride nice especially on the highway and back roads. Minimal body roll (especially compared to stock xi suspension). Its a little rough 20mph>. Still rides the way it did 30k miles ago though. They're not as low as I'd like so I'm switching to BCs w/ swift springs

Well I kind of want to know the cause of it you know, I've checked the fan and fuses, both are working, problem is that when I install the fan or my car it doesn't seem to work, therefor I think it might be a relay, which I don't know the location of so that's my main goal, and a fan replacement down here is about 1500 USD so yeah

Oh, yikes. That makes sense, I'd want to rule everything else out first!

Good luck!

Edit: Also, if it is the fan, I'll play post office and ship you one. They are like $250 new here. Surely shipping it to you would be less than 1500.

I had been thinking of going with the B8 (or the B12 kit - same shocks/struts but paired with Eibach pro-kit springs) however a few posts I read suggested that the Bilsteins last a lot longer than the Koni yellows. Is there any truth to that? I know these forums are full of crap sometimes.

I just want something that's not too harsh and I hear the Koni yellows are more comfortable.
Skip the B12 kit and get the B8's with Swift springs for better performance

I parked at my office and had 3 minutes to make a meeting. I saw the broken bottle and said "shit I'll have to break out the shop vac". I didn't have time to check where the water went. I assumed it made its way to the trunk well. 9 hours later I set off to go home and no start. Crap. I start looking for the water in the trunk. The well is empty. Check the battery well, also empty. Pull the cover on the left side where the CD changer goes, a little moist, but no fluid. There is an electronic component there , which I think is the audio amp, but anyway it was dry. It rained all day Friday, so if the water leaked out, there was no way to tell.

I called a buddy to get a ride home. While waiting I scanned. A DME code came up about over voltage. We tried to jump start, but nothing. Went back Saturday morning and towed it home. The steering won't unlock.

I can't get to it until next weekend. I disconnected the battery. Full diagnosis will have to wait.

Darwin...

Could you imagine that? After all that car had been through, after all those miles, the one thing that kills it is a bottle of water... I truly hope you get it back up and running, I think we all need to see just how far she'll go.

Just to say in my defense, it wasn't the first time I've had two bottles of water in the trunk together. And I did consciously separate them for the 11-mile trip. It's the set of up hill S-curves a half mile before the building where my office is that I jumped through at 60 in the rain , as one can do in a BMW, that smashed one bottle into the other.

Hoping maybe a fuse saved the ECU...

There is also an issue I've noticed with E9Xs where rain water gets passed all of its defenses and right onto the DME. Perhaps the bottle of water wasn't the cause?

Thanks. And also to everyone else who is concerned. You have no idea how much I love the E90. I'm pissed I went Darwin with it. I'd kick myself in the ass if I had the flexibility. Honestly, I feel like my dog just died.

I'll keep updating on this thread. I can't do diagnosis until next Sunday.

It would be a hell of a coincidence. I've never had any water intrusion ever in the car and it rains like crazy up in the mountains where I live. I did pull the top of cabin filter off about 3 weeks ago chasing the blower motor mystery but I'm super carefull reinstalling it. And I've taken the cabin filter off probably 15 times in 16 years I've owned the E90. Hell, I even had a bird make a nest in the right-side cowl drain pocket one year and didn't have an issue.

But it's a good suggestion to double check. Would de-Darwin my ass now wouldn't it.

Gave her a wash and vacuum. Car got waxed last weekend. Final coat of wax on my wheels and mounted summer setup. Going to find some abandoned building for a pic or two before work. First time with my summer wheels since a full paint correction. Looking sexy in my garage, though.

I promised an effort post a couple weeks ago about what I did to my car the weekend of 4/23. So here it is:

4/23 - what did I do to my car today? Maintenance!!!

1) The car had begun levitating:

No problem, this is a simple fix: start taking parts out of the engine bay and do NOT stop until the right half of the motor is disassembled:

Also, take off the bumper and fender liners for no apparent reason:

Now that you're in here, do NOT pass go until you:
- replace the starter
- replace the driver's ground strap
- replace your OFHG
- replace the voltage regulator on the alternator
- clean up the engine bay

New starter, who dis?

Next, have a burly man stand on the offending single stage intake - this is why your car was trying to go to heaven: it wanted to fly, as it was built to do.

After this part, find a 3 stage intake manifold, put it in the car, and then just put it all back together again:

Should look like this when you're done:

After all this, do the bimmerlabs tune (BUY THE GOOD CABLE JESUS CHRIST IT IS $40 DOLLARS), do xDelete, and luxuriate in your mind palace knowing you done good.

We also: replaced the factory radiator with a CSF aluminum racing radiator, replaced the factory (made in 08) water pump, replaced the t stat, and a bunch of hoses (including the original plastic mickey mouse flange).

We are READY for summer road tripping now!

Woohoo, serious maintenance and I love it all being DIY'd. Are those Bilsteins up front? What suspension are you running on xDrive platform? I've been trying to finally decide on my E91 xDrive suspension for this summer.

Yup, they are bilsteins. It arrived with them. I'm actually trying to figure out what the refresh should be. They have cool decals on them. I'll pull the wheels next weekend and post pics.

In doing the suspension refresh I am still aiming for a gentlemen's express or grand tourer, rather than a track rat ride.

Once I do MILVS and replace plugs/coils I'm mostly done from a performance perspective and I'll be after QoL and ride improvements.

I replaced the center hardware on the M3 strut brace so that it clears the non-M cabin filter cowl. The factory bolt and stud set up on the center V piece blocks the cowl from fitting properly. You just need M8x20 caphead bolts that are at least class 8.8.

I also unplugged the PCV heater due to the new recall. The heater is downstream from my oil catch can so I'm not sure if it's of any use in my set up anyway.
