Question Help! ER Chargepipe or Stage 1 LPFP?

Hi guys,

Got a bit of a dilemma -- I am going to get a lot of work on the car (80k, JB4 G5) done probably next week (fingers crossed).

I am taking my car to Z&M Auto who are going to hook me up with the following:
  • Walnut Blasting
  • DP Install
  • FMIC Install
  • Intake Install
  • PCV Valve + Cap
  • New Spark Plugs

I have just enough money for one more thing -- based on your tunes and experience, what should I go for next? I want to run more e85 but I don't want my chargepipe busting off...(a little context) I've had no chargepipe problems up until this point running JB4 map 2.

I also don't want a BOV -- I would like to stick with OEM DV until I can save up and get a Forge DV. I'd love to be able to hit 17psi (Daily Driver) and 18.5psi on track days.

What upgrade should I go for first and why? ER Chargepipe or SteveAZ Stage 1 LPFP?

Your input is greatly valued! Would like to make the purchase today!

Thanks!
-Elo

Charge pipe for insurance. You don't need the upgraded LFPF yet with your mods.

Yea I don't see a real reason to get a fuel pump upgrade unless there is something wrong with it that we don't know about?

+1 chargepipe for insurance. It makes sense to install the charge pipe at the same time as FMIC. You can still run 30-40% E85 without upgraded LPFP.

Then add the SteveAZ LPFP later if you want to run even higher levels of E85.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the great advice! @Jeff -- nothing is wrong with my lpfp (that I know of at least) I just though it might be more hp if I had more fuel pump power.

I am leaning towards chargepipe. Anyone else care to chime in?

Thanks so much this is SUPER helpful!

ER Charge Pipe for sure.. The CP is very prone to failure. I ship out 3-4 charge pipes a week to people who's stock pipe has failed. We usually have to overnight them as their car's are not drivable. So its a good upgrade to do when you are modding the car.

The LPFP is usually good until you had bigger turbo and or want to run high concentrations of E85.

I would definitely go chargepipe over LPFP, assuming there is nothing wrong with yours ATM.

Based on how you describe your situation however, it sounds like you should hang onto those funds just in case. You never know what will pop up after a few new mods.

I'm not in this thread to give financial advice though, so get the chargepipe.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the advice! Just ordered the ER Chargepipe :-) Check out this playlist of my favourite clips of our beloved 335i in action! Some of them are from members on this forum.

Enjoy!

Charge pipe then inline pump. I did the inline pump first and ran map 7 with no charge pipe issues but for peace of mind I'd suggest saving the inline pump for a later date. The inline pump was less than $200 whereas the charge pipe is around $300.
