New M3 and M4 in Canberra
Rolfe Classic BMW, the local dealer here in Canberra has done it again – they shipped in the new M3 and M4 (plus a 3-series Grand Coupe) for the local club night at the dealership.
All I can say is the M3 and M4 look awesome ‘face-to-face’. After seeing the many press photos, I was impressed but reserved final judgement until I actually saw one in person. All I can say now is “Wow!!” They really do have presence and just the right dose of aggressiveness. Viewing them up close gives you the chance to see the very nice detailed touches all over the cars which lift them above the standard sedans and coupes – like the M3/M4 logos in the bottom centre of the instrument cluster and the ///M logos on the front seat backrests which actually light up …. Nice! The driver’s seat is a nice place to be and you sit in it rather than on it. They reminded me more of the BMW Performance seats. They have quite a unique exhaust note too – but this was at start-up and idle in the showroom and not revved out. It is definitely a straight-6 sound but like no other I’ve ever heard (incl N54/N55s with various aftermarket exhaust combinations). Can't wait to see the first one on the road. Too bad it won't be mine!
