any hp gained from exhaust

Exhaust is one of the last few things I need to be done to my car. A lot of threads talk about not even bothering to do a exhaust since there is few gains coming from it. I have all the other bolt ons for the car and my sponsor shop is setting me up a pro tune date for the car soon so pretty much wondered if it was going to make a big difference or not spending 1k on a exhaust. I would either just buy a exhaust or just mod the stock exhaust. Let me know what you guys think.

On a FBO stock frame car we're talking IDK...5-10WHP to be gained aft of the downpipes? That's a guess on my part but bottom line is it's not a major area to pick up power. And that would be midpipes+axle back decatted.

Once you really starting cranking up the boost (single turbo) then it becomes appreciably more important to ditch the factory system. The mid cats in particular become a bottle neck and some legitimate gains can be picked up in that regard.

thats pretty much what I've been reading on it, i just don't want to spend a grand for 5-10 awhp. When i can just mod the stock exhaust to sound pretty mean.

Exhaust is more a sound mod than anything on these cars.

thats what i figured. The goal is to a least get 420awhp on the protune. So wasn't sure how much the exhaust would help me or not

It won't help that muc, I wouldn't waste 1500 on an exhaust to get 5whp maybe and sound cooler? Nope. Now the only benefit I see is maybe the weight saving. some exhaust like the vrsf among others claim 30-40 pounds ir I'm not mistaken. That's the only real benefit I think is worth mentioning or rather asking when purchasing an exhaust. How much weight am I going to shed vs stock?

It's not a huge power adder but Grassroots Motorsports did a comparo of a bunch of exhausts and the HKS gained 13whp over stock. On a tuned/bolt-on car I'd imagine the gains would be more around 15-20whp. Not a ton but still decent imo.

Get the M2 exhaust, its actually really quality piece, a lot of people have had them for years with no issues, and it sounds great. I think better than almost all 1K$$ plus systems do..

Perfect! there isn't any rapsyness from the exhaust with downpipes? Just don't want the car sounding like a honda

the car sounds great in the video for sure, just asking since sometimes a video doesn't beat hearing it in person and in the cabin . Did you have to adjust the exhaust in anyway since the link is for a e92

i wish i did a before and after dyno of my HPF gen2 addition. it is 35 lbs to the 78lb stock system and i SWEAR i could feel a difference but its all speculation. However i will note it cuts out mid pipes and mufflers and is a MASSIVE 3.5 inch ID exhaust. BEASTLY as all hell. I could see this flowing ST hp numbers EASSSSSY

I believe it is the same, would have to double check or hopefully someone will chime in, it doesn't go anywhere near front axles etc.. so i think it would work. Maybe call a performance shop that sells any 335i exhaust since they will know if it fits both I, and XI.
