Rock chips gone :)
Hey guys, wanted to let you all know that I tried some dr. colorchip over the weekend for my Jet Black e90. I was going nuts looking at the front end of my car in the sunlight, only to see my front end with all this road rash, made it look old. We had a rough winter here in Atlanta this past winter, I'm sure you all saw the news. My car got pelted with garbage from the road those few days. Anyways, tried the colorchip stuff, and I cannot say how glad I am I gave it a shot. My front end looks completely restored, I'm soooo happy with the results. She looks great again. All that for around 50 bucks, with shipping. If you give it a shot, follow the instructions and be patient. Took me 2 hours of diligently looking for chips. Paid off big time.

I knew you all were gonna ask for pics, haha. I didn't take any before pics, but I'll take some afters and post them up. I was just amazed at how well it worked. Since last year, I've acquired a dd, one that I'm not afraid of getting dirty or racking up miles. So now my bimmer only comes out when it's sunny and dry

Is this the newer one that you kind of smear it around as opposed to attacking each chip?
I don't see how this can work on my Black Sapphire Paint, but I will go for it if someone confirms that it does. |

Hard to trust this without before/after pics.
There are dozens of videos showing the product not working. And the only demos I have seen that work are done by companies that are selling the product. Isn't it a widely known fact that the blending solution destroys the clearcoat on your normal paint and basically buffs the area so the chip blends into the undamaged paint around it? Sounds like you are wetsanding your good paint to cover up a small chip and now that whole area has shallow paint coverage. Maybe I am understanding the process wrong?

The solution is supposed to act as a sealant for the new paint that you just applied. It is formulated to work only with that paint, not the one that's already on your car. The solution and the paint work in conjunction with one another.

I have been using the Dr Colorchip stuff this weekend but was winding if the rest of you have noticed that the Oem paint seems pretty darned thick and need to do each chip a couple of times?
I bough my 335i sapphire black used and it has been hammered over the years by road stones so I have my work cut out for me. What temps are you all using the Dr Colorchip in and are you needing to do multiple fills when you work a chip? It is still only in the 50s here so maybe I need to let it warm up before doing any more?
