2E83 After Waterpump Replacement

My waterpump finally gave out. Codes 2E83 and 2E84. I replaced it with a VDO spare I had purchased a while ago (latest 426 revision) and cleared codes.

During the bleed process, I kept getting 2E84 "Communication" error and the pump would sometimes not respond to manual initiation in INPA. Cleared it and drove around the block with INPA connected to monitor coolant temps. Codes cleared themselves and seemed to operate fine for 45 minutes; figured it was one of those diagnostic codes that may only clear with the engine running.

Drove it to work this morning, and got 2E83 "Waterpump Low Power." Any of you guys still getting codes after waterpump replacement with the VDO setup? I checked all fuses, distribution block, verified waterpump pin voltages. Pump seems to have adequate duty cycle variance while driving and no overheating.

New pump on the fritz already?

I dont think the VDO is the issue, they are an OEM manufacturer. Something else is amiss here.

I have had two OE water pumps out the box defective. If it wont clear after a hard battery reset. I'd return it. Far as I know OE use Continental water pumps.

VDO were OEM pumps, but the latest version of the pump is made by Continental.
