Technical Advice on fuel octane
Hey Guys
Im not very technical and i was wondering if anyone could explain the effects of boosting higher without higher octane, what is the ratio of required octane for certain altitudes? How can your engine be damaged? In respect to V2 boosting 14 PSI on pump gas, what possible damage can happen. I have been listening carefully and i cant pick up any detonation not that i know exactly what it would sound like. Also SHIV could you please explain, does upping the torque values in V2 do anyting else besides up boost? I have been running 100% for a couple of days at 5800ft with pump gas and iv seen no detonation. I met up with M&M and he seems to be much more technicaly minded and also said there was no fuel problems that he could hear. Can any of you technical guys tell me what to expect and listen for to determine if im having any type of fuel problems at this high torque setting. My boost is peeking now at 14 PSI and im having no boost spikes at all. Also do you know of any damage i can cause relating to other problems besides detonation, ie does V2 change anything else besides boost when you up torque settings? Thanks for the help, ill be taking my car to the same dyno that M&M uses tomorrow. Hopefully this dyno will show better numbers compared to the madly adjusted numbers i had with the last dyno i went to.ill post up the results with V2 at 100% on pump gas at 5800ft, lets see what the car makes |

Dett can he heard and felt. The car will hesitate and not be smooth at all. But I found that octane doesn't make much difference up here. I have tested on the dyno. Reason being we have 17% less oxygen up here. Even if we boost the same as a sea-level car, we are still making less power.
