Anyone gotten CIP 20 yet?

If so, what has it "fixed"?

I'm really curious if it fixed anyone's problems with Bluetooth and their phones not pairing consistently.

Thanks.

sorry--i should have posted to that thread before starting a new one. and i see what e90fleet says it's supposed to fix, just seeing if anyone has actually had any success with it yet.

my car goes in on wednesday and i'm praying for my phone to start working with it.

I want to know if anone has gotten it for MP3 yet on pre-September proNav

It apparently gives it to euro 5 Series cars but not USA ones, so would like to know what it does for the E90

it's pretty cool when e90fleet posts a follow-up question to your post...

I'm going in for CIP20 on Tuesday Jan 17th in the UK.
My e90 330iSE is a week 36 build, but does not have mp3 playback.

Spoke to the local dealer today, who were going to charge me for the MP3 update, until I mentioned bluetooth pairing problems with one of the phones which is on BMW's list of accepted mobiles- SE T610.

Even then, they said there wouldn't be anything they could do unless they can identify a specific problem. They said because it is an 'older' phone, it may be a problem with that & not with the car!
I'm so mad, I think I may just make the phone 'undiscoverable' when I take it down next week. I don't think they'll have a clue about the phone itself.

So can someone (Fleet) put me straight on this- if I cannot replicate a BT pairing problem to the service centre, will I be forced to pay for CIP 20 & the associated MP3 update?

Is there anything I can specifically do to not have to pay for this damn update, something (mp3 playback) I feel I should have had in the first place?

I was considering contacting UK trading standards, due to facts stated in the manual (mp3 playback, voice entry of destinations etc), making the car "not as described".
This will be my last straw, however.

Thanks.

Viv

I'm very p*ssed off!

The owners manual clearly states that the MP3 are supported and they have screen shots of it working on a I-Drive. So BMW and your dealer does not have a leg to stand on and thus they have to make it work. You are not asking for functionality that isn't meantioned as part of the cars manual.

BTW CIP 20.0 on it's own did not enable MP3's in my car.

Not true in the US.
All 3 series built before or after September are suppose to play MP3.

Every one keeps doubting it... known of you will ever get it!

my car is a late october build, so i can't help you out on the mp3 issue. i haven't tried playing mp3s in it yet, but i will soon just for my own edification. i really don't want to find something else wrong with my car though, now that i have bluetoof fixed.

MP3 Works now

Hi Viv,

I now have the s/w update and I can now play mp3. I had initially heard that I would have to pay, but a fair amount of kicking and screaming should get it for free. I did not pay! Nobody should have to as the manual clearly states that it should. You have paid for this feature already!

Cheers,
vep

Excellent! Nice work vep.
I was going to try using the bluetooth problem to get the CIP20 update, but I'm just going to take in the BMW service bulletin which states the mp3 retrofit is part of the warranty & show them the handbook.
We shouldn't have to do any kicking or screaming to get this, but may be I will anyway!

Thanks again for the post. I'm going in on Tuesday 17th for the retrofit.

Just one thing vep- if you have voice control, can you now speak destinations, letter-by-letter, into the NavPro?

CIP 20

The update is clearly listed in the mfg tech bulletin that it should only be applied upon customer complaint. My dealer in Illinois updated my car with two updates (one for transmission smoothness and the other for bluetooth) and did not charge. Also provided free loaner.

Software upgrade installed Thursday to solve BT issue and E815 phone. Tested for three days now. Connecting as it should. Only issue, second time for reprogramming the car and dealers may not know to enable the assist in the car after reprogramming the car. ie setup the assist again in the car menu. Otherwise, the assit works but the car does not transmit the location and vehicle information to BMW assist.
