Trunk lid won't close http://www.e90post.com/forums/images/smilies/readthethread.gif
I bought a wrecked 2011 335d that is pretty much done now except the trunk lid, it won't lock. I tried everything. my brother tested to see if there is power and I'm getting 7v to the lock but it wont engage when i put the lid down. and the car doesn't loch or unlock with the fob but it starts fine. Any ideas? does it need to be reprogramed after the wreck? Please help!

You do not need power to close the trunk latch. Although it may be stuck in a locked position. Mechanically, you should most likely be ok unless the hit was from the back. I would be looking at the actuator, it's connection or electrical.

I have had a series of rear trunk lid electrical issues over the past year that I resolved last week but believe were all related to a deterioration, strand by strand of a wire(brown) in the rubber harness cover that runs from the trunk lid to the body. My first indication of a problem was the trunk actuator opening on its own and not wanting to lock upon close....as if the actuator was permanently energized. Turned off the car, restarted and could not get that problem to repeat at the time. Whether that issue was related to what I found last week(read on).....can't be sure but it solved a number of trunk lid electrical issues. As 335DLCI suggested, I would be checking inside this harness for a broken or "breaking" wire. Pulling off the boot at each end of the harness did not reveal the break......it was smack in the middle and I had to slice open the flex rubber harness cover to find.
Might be worth a look! |
